Ios 4.2 Update Error - There Was An Error Downloading The Software?
Dec 10, 2010
Super excited to get 4.2.1 up and running. I had the buggy beta of 4.2 running on my iPad but now when I try to restore my iPad to get the most recent version of 4.2.1 running, I get this error:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad. The requested resource was not found.
I've restarted iTunes and the computer and I'm still getting the same error. I've looked for the .ipsw file online but can't seem to find it anywhere. It's not an Apple's Support/Downloads section either.
Anyone know where to download the new update? I'm dying without Airplay, Airprint and so on not working here.
Information: Mac Mini, 27" LED Display Mac OS X (10.6.5)
Has anyone had trouble updating to the newest 4.3.3? Every time I try to update I get an "unknown error #3194" . This error, according to the Mensa at Apple indicates I do not have the the latest iTunes installed. This is total crap, because I do.
I had been trying to update my jailbroken ipad running on 3.2.2 to 4.2.1 for a few weeks now. I have downloaded the ipsw file and tried updating the ipad using shift+update multiple times. I keep getting the error message after verifying my ipad: The iPad "****" cannot be updated, an unknown error occurred (3194).I cannot restore my ipad using a 3.2.2 ipsw file either.I have searched different forums and used the apple support site, and found out that i was supposed to add 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to the host file. After that i tried updating again and after my iPad successfully entered recovery mode, the same error message appeared.

Updating my once jailbroken ipad2 to ios 5 and keep getting the Error 3194 message. I restored it back to 4.3.5 on a friends computer and it looks like the jailbreak is gone. everything is back to default settings yet it still keeps giving me the same 3194 error message.

IPad :: Configurator Error (Could Not Refresh IOS Update Catalog)
Aug 29, 2014
I use Configurator (version 1.5) to manage a fleet of about 300 iOS devices at my elementary school. Today when I was in the process of getting a set of iPads ready, I was having issues authorizing one of the free apps I was trying to install. I quit out of Configurator and relaunched it. The Confugurator menu bar appeared, but the window did not open. After about a minute I get a dialog box that says, "Could not refresh the iOS update catalog".
At this point, I restarted my sync computer and tried again. Same result. Restarted again, booted from another volume. Repaired disk permissions a couple of times and got LOTS of repairs.

IPad 2 :: After Installing Latest Update Got Error 9 Message - Now Won't Get Past Set Up Screen
Sep 7, 2014
My iPad2 is 1.5 years old. I updated iTunes & the iPad last night, but then I got this "Error 9" message, telling me I had to restore my iPad. I could deal with having to reenter all of my personal data, but the iPad won't start again. It turns on, but asks to be hooked up to iTunes. When asked if I would like to restore from iTunes, I say yes. Then it takes time to copy files onto the iPad. If I look at the iPad via iTunes, it shows I have apps, photos, music, etc., but when I try the iPad, it gives me the original multilingual "Hello" screen and asks to be plugged to iTunes.
Steps I have taken:
- Checked for updates (there are none) - Used different USB cords. - Restarted the computer (a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.4, Processor: 2.53 GHz Intel Core Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3), and tried it all over again.
I have downloaded several apps that I did not care for, so I trashed them---but I keep getting alerts on the App Store app that they are available for download. Ho do I turn off those alerts?
