The choices provided after pressing "file, devices" do not work. What do I do?

Product name is IPad 2 with 32 Gig storage capacity, software version 7.1.2. Using ITunes, when I press "file, devices" the resulting menu box doesn't function. If I press "backup" nothing happens. What should I do?

I assume that you are trying to backup and/or sync your iPad, but you really didn't say specifically. I always recommend, quitting everything, restarting everything and starting all over again.


Eject your iPad, quit iTunes, reboot your computer, and reset the iPad. Then try again.


Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
