YouTube stops and takes a long time to load videos. It works good on my MacBook and pc, no stoping at all. I think it has something to do with the video quality being to high for my Internet speed, I have 1.5 dsl. I just play the lowest quality on my computers but I can't change it on the iPad. Any one know how to fix this?
same problem here. Only with high res youtube videos. I called apple and they gave me some suggestions but they didnt work. This is really frustrating because half of the value of the ipad is video.
I just noticed this problem as well. I tried watching a youtube video on my iPad and noticed it was buffering slowly on my wifi. I immediately switched to my macbook (which was right next to me) and streamed the same video super fast.
I'm curious to hear of who else is having this issue. I thought it was my internet speeds but the same videos buffer just fine on my macbook, my imac, and my iphone.
I have the same problem with my iPad and iPhone inside my wifi network. But my iPhone does fine on a 3G network so I'm baffled. My iMac is able to play hi def movies no problem so I've confirmed that it's not a limitation of my internet connection or my airport extreme base station.
I'm having the same problem with my iPad (wifi, 16gb). Sometimes if I repeatedly tap the Play/Pause button it loads the video completely in a second or so and ends up playing just fine. However, that method doesn't always work so it could just be a fluke.
If I use my MacBook Pro to watch the same video using the highest resolution available it works perfectly. Thus, like many of you have said, I don't see it being a problem with my Internet speeds.
I think this has to do with the iPad always choosing the highest quality video possible. You can choose 360p on the computer (which is more suitable for my 1.5 Mb connection), but there is no such setting on iPad.
A lot of sites are saying that this is a iPad/router issue. Some people are not having any issues with their iPad over wifi. While others, like myself, are having slow YouTube loading. I have a wireless N router and the 50 MB package from Cox and It takes me atleast 5 min to load a 1-3 minute clip from YouTube.
Same problem here. I can stream videos via wifi from my windows xp computer to my xbox just fine. I can surf the Internet on my iPad quickly, email loads quickly, everything seems to be fine with my wifi setup. But YOUTUBE on the iPad *****. Low resolution videos seem to play fine, but forget about playing higher resolution videos. You should at least be able to pause the video and let the buffer fill up and then play it back, but no dice.
If an iPad and a wifi connection cannot handle hi-res videos, you should at least be able to either wait for the buffer to load and then play it or, alternatively, be able to pick a lower resolution instead of being FORCED to try to (unsuccessfully) watch in hi-res.
I'm having the same issue and it's very annoying. Netflix streams perfectly fine and YouTube just takes way to long to load a video. On my MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS YouTube via wifi loads perfectly fine.
I think this has to do with the iPad always choosing the highest quality video possible. You can choose 360p on the computer (which is more suitable for my 1.5 Mb connection), but there is no such setting on iPad.
I second this! So upset that there is no low-res option because here in rural Wales there is nothing better than 1.5mb.
Renders ALL my YouTube content useless! Please add a small option to change this please!!
YouTube on iPad is useless for me. The one big disappointment is that video won't load or stream. I've tweaked my DNS settings to OpenDNS but no luck. I hope Apple find a work around for this soon. Maybe iOS4 will be the key.
