View 2 RepliesI have 4 email accounts on the iPad - one exchange account, 2 gmails, one university account (outlook based). All work fine from home.Today at work I had a great wifi connection, but the exchange account was pretty much frozen. The most recent message all day was from right before I left home. I tried fiddling with the settings- I added stmp.gmail.com for outgoing mail, but that didn't help. i tried setting it up as a new account, but " Verify" repeatedly failed. i ended up somehow deleting all the messages. So, I deleted the account. then I set it back up from home and it worked fine

View 2 RepliesI'm able to receive mail on my iPad but not send it. I get the following error message: "The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.me.com" failed" I've no idea why this should be the case as my Macbook Pro (to which this iPad is synched) works without any problems on the same network.Any ideas on how to begin to address this?Information : 17 and 15 Powerbooks, iMac Mac OS X (10.3.x).
View 7 RepliesSo, about 10 minutes ago (10:31 PM my time) I opened my mail app on my iPad 2 and got the message: cannot get mail, connection to server failed
What's causing this? It doesn't stop me from getting emails, but it's extremely annoying, I've tried the double click home and close app, restart, I'm not sure what to do now.
Also, this isn't a work iPad, it's a personal iPad.
I have had my iPad since Christmas when I got it from my son. My email worked just fine but now I receive a message saying "The connection to the server failed". I called the Bell. The rep. went over the settings with me and said they'd were fine and that I should take it back to the store. Then while reading the forum I saw the same question and answer.
The advice given was to delete the settings . Does this mean I take out all the SMTP etc. and then put the information back in. I know I haven't got this right.
on my iPad, my outgoing mail regularly replies that the email was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying. What does that mean and how can I make the emails go out?
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with both my iphone 3gs and ipad's outgoing server. i have 4 email accounts on both.everyday when i try and send emails via either machine it states that it cannot not find the outgoing server. I have found this is due to the detail being unstable. I have to go into each account and re type in the username and password on the outgoing server section of the set up. has anyone had this problem? this only started since i down loaded software when i set up my ipad which included the latest software providing a unified inbox for iPhone. View 1 RepliesI tried to configure email on the new iPad. I have connection to the internet via wifi and can reach web mail. But however I try to configure email every time I got message that "Cannot Get Mail - the connection to the server "xxx" failed. I'm 100% sure that all information such a server, user name and password are correct because I'm using this account also in my MacBook.
Can somebody help me? Why I cannot configure mail in my iPad successfuly? Does it work with servers which I got from provider or it is necessary put something special?
This has been a pretty regular problem for me w/ my iPhone when I'm own my home WiFi: desktop and laptop connect to IMAP mail server(s) fine, but when iPhone tries to it gets theCannot Get MailThe connection to the server <mail server hostname> failed. Now I'm getting this without exception on my iPad. On the iPhone, I can get around it by switching to 3G, but not on this WiFi-only iPad.I've tried increasing the max connections per IP on the IMAP server in question, but that's had no effect. I've searched high and low on Google and other forums and there's TONS of threads on this/similar issues -- but no solutions.
View 5 RepliesMail from our exchange server to the iPad 2 is working fine. When one of our users changed his AD password on his PC then he got an error on the iPad about "cannot get mail - connection to server failed". If we then change the password on his exchange setup screen on the iPad then the E-Mail works again, Is it normal?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to search my Gmail account from the iPad original email application. When I type the searh item into the earchbox and hit Enter, it shows the relevant downloaded/synced items and a link to "Continue to Search on Server". When i hit the "Contunue.." link I get notice "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed". In the meantime the search works fine from the G-Whizz! application...

Every time I go into my iPad mail I get the following pop up.
"Cannot get Mail" The connection to the server failed. I click on OK, which seems to be the only option.
I "think" I'm getting all my mail from all of the accounts I've got set up after going through this routine several times, but I'd like to know what needs to be changed to stop this incessant pop up and why it started in the first place.
I Have an iPad4. When I try to open my email a message appears "cannot get mail. Connection to the server failed". But my spouse has a separate email account with the same setting on the shame iPad, and this is not affected. I also use a laptop for email, and this receives email normally--I have not changed password or server details on either device recently .

What do you do when you get a "connection to mail server failed" message?

We are running Exchange 2003 and some inboxes keep clearing out and have to reload all the emails based on the setting. This has happened several times on certain iPADs and on multiple ones at the same time.
While the iPAD is on, it throws up an error message that says "Connection to Server failed" and then clears out. This is while connected via WiFi on our local network in the office. This has happened in multiple locations in our company.
Any ideas? I've seen other people have had this problem and the only common item is Exchange 2003.

I run an iPhone 4S and iPad2 - iOS 6.1.2. The iPhone has 2 gmail exchange accounts that work fine along side each other. I've been running a single exchange account on the iPad and an IMAP setup for the other account but decided I wanted to add push email and so added the same 2nd exchange account as on the iPhone but I get an error saying:
"Cannot Get Mail, The connection to the server failed".
On setup of the new exchange mail on the iPad I get all the ticks and I know the credentials are the same on both devices yet the iPad fails, the iPhone has been working a couple of weeks with no issues.
I can't send email on my ipad - message says my request is being rejected by the server. I am able to receive email though.
