iPad mail sync do anything?

Hi all,

As far as i can tell, the sync between my Mac's Mail and my ipad's Mail via iTunes doesn't do anything once the accounts are set up after the initial config. No messages get copied, no mailboxes, nothing. Looking at the forums here and elsewhere, I am aware that it doesn't mirror the mailoxes (which i wish it could!), but it would be nice if it at least synced sent messages so i don't have to search both devices. Does the sync actually do anything at all?

My IMPRESSION, from reading the Mail FAQ, is that "sync" simply sets up accounts on the iPad using the information on your Mac or PC.

If you're using an IMAP account, such as MobileMe or Gmail, both machines should see the same folders, while a POP account probably won't. This may vary; other threads indicate that Yahoo does share folders, even though (I think) it's POP.

More details on your accounts (provider, POP versus IMAP, etc.) might be helpful.

If I delete a message on the iPad is NOT deleted on the MacBook Pro when I sync with iTunes. How could I have the iPad and the MacBook Pro Mail messages sync? Do I have to use MobileMe? How? Is there a way to have iPad and MacBook Pro messages sync so if I erase a message in one if erased on the other one when sync? Suggestions? Regards, Francisco
