Sync and Charge issues!

I am having an issue with my iPad.

Recently, I noticed that when plugging the cable into it, there is no indication of the device charging. The battery at the top of the screen remains as if there is no power getting to the device.

iTunes doesn't recognize the device either (Not even in Recovery Mode)

HOWEVER, if I power the device all the way down and plug the cable in, the iPad shows the image of a battery with a lightning bolt on it. It will charge this way, but as soon as the device boots up, it quits.

Anybody else have this issue before? Tested on Windows XP, Win7, and Snow Leopard.

Mac OS X (10.6.2)

The charging issue you raise, are you talking about charging from a computer or the wall outlet? There have been a lot of threads about charging from a computer...Apple is pretty specific about the USB port requirements for charging. Not a function of the OS but of the USB port power.

Manynposts have pointed out.that it is a good idea that the iPad have a full charge when you to a restore or update...not a bad idea to extend that to include sync and backup, also.

Its both on the computer and the wall outlet.

Like I said, it only charges if the device is powered down and it displays the large battery with the lightning bolt.

As soon as the OS loads, it stops charging. It also does not recognize in iTunes (not even in recovery mode)

On my two Windows machines it says "USB device not recognized." and on my Mac it just doesn't say anything
