Can i use facetime to video chat with window pc?

Skype maybe?

FaceTime is a Mac and iOS thing only.

Skype and Yahoo Messenger might be an option, but I haven't used those programs on Windows so I can't be certain.

You can't Facetime to a PC, but you CAN AIM Messenger, Skype, yahoo... or google chat video !

Keep in mind the Skype app is still not yet optimized for iPad. It's a just a blown up version of the iPhone app.

Skype was fine to pc.

There was talk of a windows FaceTime app, but that was just before the mac beta of FaceTime came out. No word since

Personally I don't find it too much of a hindrance for video chat, especially with the jailbroken iPad with RetinaPad. It works pretty well and looks good. Unfortunately there's no break for the iPad 2 so mo RetinaPad, or is there a jailbreak now?

yahoo and google can use the cameras on ipad2 for video chat?

trying to find a solution myself...

well ive used video chat with my gf..she was on a pc and was on my iphone4
we used yahoo.. so i would assume its the same for ipad..

When FaceTime was first unveiled with the iPhone 4 apple said that FaceTime would be made an open standard. This has yet to come true.....

While they are at it maybe integrate a real instant messenger for all iOS devices....something that doesn't abuse data. All those third party apps are aweful. Just copy bbm into FaceTime,make a windows client and bababoom 50 million more users. Maybe make an extra buck by selling it in the blackberry and android app stores. Hah

MSN contacts

So going back to the very original question, from an iPad2 is it possible to video chat with a MSN contact on PC?

Skype is the best app out for Video Chat. It works on any platform. Iphone to PC, iMac to Android phone. It works over 3g and it has free instant messages.

Skype video chat and Android video chat are not yet available on all Android devices.

Android video chat in particular will probably only be 2.3+. Skype video chat is only available on the Nexus S and one of the Verizon phones (i forget which one)

The best option for cross platform video chat (including iOS/Android/PC) are yahoo messenger or Oovoo.

Sorry if this question sounds too basic and dumb, but I can access my MSN contact list using Skype? Or alternatively, if I am running Skype and the other PC user is running Windows Live Messenger, would that work for video chat?

Anyone you call must have a Skype account. The account is free and very easy to set up but still a necessity. And of course both of you must have Skype installed on your device. Skype cannot "chat" with Windows Live. Skype chats with Skype, Windows Live Messenger chats with Windows Live Messenger, etc.

By the way, Skype works very well. On a PC or an IPad. The quality of the call depends on the quality of the connection either of you have. My husband and I have. Used Skype from the US to Iraq, Turkey, Kuwait, Italy, Mexico, Romania and several other places (he travels a lot).

With acquisition of Skype by Microsoft, I was hoping there will eventually be some sort of interoperability between these networks, if not already. The problem is my contacts are mostly on Windows Live Messenger, perhaps because their contacts are too. It would not be easy to convince all of them to set up Skype.

Was about to post the same thing .... wonder why there are no Windows clients for it yet.

Shortly after Facetime was announced, a company called VirnetX sued Apple for patent infringement and won $368 million in damages. Apple made substantial changes to how Facetime works, but every time Apple releases another product with Facetime support, VirnetX takes them to court again claiming the changes didn't go far enough.
