iPod Camera Connector

Will the original iPod Camera Connector work with the iPad? It looks the same from the outside, but when I plug it in, it says the device is not supported. That's too bad, I don't have much use for it since my iPod video has a broken screen.

Mac OS X (10.6.3)

I just wasn't sure if there would be an update to enable this when the connector kit came out. Maybe it did not make it into the OS yet. Not that much extra money I suppose, plus the direct card reader option.

You are pretty much right though, I'll call it solved.

Apple always makes it sound like the new product has been totally redesigned from the ground up for our convenience when in fact, it's simply planned obsolesence. Ipod dock doesn't work with Iphone, Iphone camera kit doesn't work with Ipad, Etc.

On the other hand, my iPod dock that came from the old iPod Video works just fine with the iPhone. However, I really do not understand why the camera connector does not work. I have one as well and received the same "not compatible" message.

Besides the "Unsupported Device" message, have you connected a USB camera to actually probe if it works? It may work, maybe slower but it should.

It doesn't work for me. I have the original Camera Connector kit (iPod) and connected a USB card reader to it. Zilch!

let's all complain! maybe they'll hear us if there's enough noise. it's not as if they'd lose much money, just make happier customers. Unless there are any significantly different components in the new camera connectors. well i'm gonna call to complain and so should you all. they can only help with problems that they feel are significant to customers.
