I seem to be having problems with Mail on my 3G + wi-fi 64 Gig iPad.
It will only stay open for a couple of seconds.
it then takes me back to the Home screen.
It seems to be receiving new messages, but when I delete them, they reappear in the in-box next time I launch mail.

I have shut down the iPad several times and restarted. I have synced the iPad with the Macbook. Doesn't help. Other apps seem to be working.

any advice?

Try deleting the email account(s) in Settings. If that doesn't work, you may need to do a full restore.

I've seen this a few times on my iPhone with other apps as well. In every instance, I've deleted the app and reinstalled.

I bet buy deleting the account you are doing the same.

Problem is back

well the fix worked for only 1 day

it's back to the original problem

moreover I'm getting a beep every 10 seconds or so - like I just received mail

I'll try deleting the account again- but any other suggestions?

One thing I've noticed is that both times this happened - I had received a Mail Delivery System notification - e.g., mail not delivered or mail delayed

coincidence?

thanks

interesting

I deleted and reinstalled my .mac (mobile me) account

that stopped the beeping

once it re-downloaded my mail it did not include the mail delivery message (thank goodness)

that message did not cause a problem with my Macbook. It read:

---

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

>XXX (I deleted the name)@ic.gc.ca>

The reason for the problem:
4.3.2 - Not accepting messages at this time 421-'4.4.1 bulwark.ic.gc.ca Unable to contact destination'

Reporting-MTA: dns; blrif637.ssan.egs-seg.gc.ca

Final-Recipient: rfc822;(I deleded the name)@ic.gc.ca
Action: delayed
Status: 4.0.0 (temporary failure)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 4.3.2 - Not accepting messages at this time 421-'4.4.1 bulwark.ic.gc.ca Unable to contact destination' (delivery attempts: 0)

I found a workaround

I went into my Sympatico account on my mac and deleted all the messages on the server

then I deleted and reinstalled this account on my iPad - so this time it did not download the error messages

this seems to be a known problem

I wonder why it hasn't been fixed?
