Can Quicktime be removed from sync'ing PC?

QuickTime was installed along with iTunes on the PC that I sync my iPad to. Can Quicktime be removed without hosing the iPad's ability to sync with iTunes?

iPad, iPhone OS 3.1.3, Windows 7

Yes, you can remove Quicktime without affecting iTunes ability to sink.

Actually, as it turns out, you do need Quicktime to run iTunes. At least on a Windows box you do anyway.
