ipad opens in mute mode
My iPad 2 opens in mute mode when first turned on. I can raise the volume and all is well until I turn it off and then turn it back on. ??

Technically, there is no mute mode on the iPad except for the muting of system sounds which would include keyboard clicks, email notifications, sounds in apps, etc. (other than music or the videos apps) so what is happening is that the volume is automatically being turned all the way down when you power down the iPad. Why that is happening is a mystery. Have you tried a reset? No data is lost. It is like rebooting your computer and it resets the system.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

OK, I found the problem. I took the iPad out of the case and everything worked as it should. I turned off the clamcase, installed the iPad and every time I opened it up for use the mute symbol appeared. I got to noticing that if I pushed on the case at the corners it would begin to lower the volume. I removed the flashing that was left on the volume button on the clamcase and all is well. The external volume button was activating the iPad because the tolerance was too close. Thank you for the reply, Mike
