How do I get "Digital Copy" movies onto my iPad?

I buy Blu-Ray movies for my BluRay player and many of them come with what would is called "Digital Copy". Now my own experience with Digital Copy movies is slim...

What I was wondering if anyone has put these "Digital Copy" movies onto their iPads for playback and if so how does one go about it?

You will need to get the movies into iTunes first. Try simply dragging the file into iTunes and syncing the movie to the iPad.

Alos, you may have to convert the movie to a format supported by the iPad. The Advanced menu in iTunes has a selection that will convert some formats to an iPad compatible one. A computer application such as Handbrake for the Mac will convert most formats to iPad ones.

The digital movie copies I've gotten have involved redeeming a code in iTunes. The movie is then downloaded into iTunes and I can sync it as I would any other movie.

What format are these copies in? Does the box say they will work with iTunes?

Many digital copies are incompatible with the iPad as they're in a Windows only format. The DC comics home video releases USED to be iTunes compatible, but they've switched to Windows only now.

If the small print on your case doesn't explicitly state iTunes, then it won't be compatible.

I just purchased "Green Zone" Blu-Ray and it comes with Digital Copy. I was very pleased to see it setup and transferred the copy of the movie to my iPad easily. All I had to do was enter the registration number which came with the Digital Copy of the movie. This is a brand new/just released movie. Hopefully, many other blu-rays will come with the same iTunes transfer capability "Green Zone" came with...

There is usually a redemption code along with the Digital Copy disk. I put the disk in my system, and then go to iTunes and redeem the code. The disk only seems to be there as an authentication step, as the Digital Copy downloads from the iTunes store. Transfers to my iPad and plays perfectly.
