iBooks getting slower as one gets further on a book?

Hi there!

I am reading my first book on iBooks. As English is not my native language, I make constant use of the built in dictionary.

I am reading quite a long book (The Shadow of the Wind)' and now that I am on page 270 out of aprox. 600, everytime I double tap a word to access its definition, it takes around 5 seconds for the dictionary book to show up. The weird thing is that it doesnt happen when I perform the same action on the first 100 pages of the book, for example - it is really way snappier then.

Is it a bug or can I do something about it?

Cheers,

Francis

I've not experienced that, and I've read quite a few books in iBooks. It's possible that it is a bug with the specific book. I'd try turning the iPad off and restarting it (press and hold the Power button at the top until the slider appears on the screen). That solves most small problems. If that doesn't do it, I'd report it to the iBook Store.

Thing is, Apple makes it so hard to report stuff, and we never have proper feedback, that I'd rather share the problem on forums in hope that someone had a similar problem and solved it already.

I thought that my problem was caused mostly due too much highlighting, but I started deleting some, and it didn't get better. Then, after a few pages, things got well again. So yes, it may be book related.

And, for the record, I also tried restarting the iPad, but nothing better came out of it.
