Opening Mail Produces an Error Message

Many times when I first open mail after turning on my iPad, I get the following error message:

Cannot Send Mail
The sender address was invalid
OK

Any ideas how to prevent this?

First thing I would do would be to reboot your iPad. Tis is depressing the Home and Power/Sleep buttons at some time until Apple logo appears. When screen activity ceases repeat the depressing to restart the iPad. Next step would be to delete the account and recreate it.

It turns out that one of my email accounts was not configured properly, and the message was from the unsent emails in the Outbox.
