Ways to get on unlimited plan before it goes...

I ordered my iPad 3g on May 24th and it just shipped today and is scheduled to get here on the 8th according to FedEx tracking. Two days too late to get on the unlimited plan. Can anyone think of a way to get on the unlimited plan before it is too late?

My main idea is seeing if I can overnight a sim card from AT&T and activate it in another ipad 3g.

Would this work? Any other options?

I have had the 3G since release - gone through one renewal of the 250 MB plan.

Today I tried to change my account to the Unlimited Plan - and received a message that "activation failed".

Upon re-trying to change to the Unlimited Plan - I noticed, to my surprise, that I no longer had that option. I can now only add an additional 250 MB for $14.99 or Cancel Plan.

Guess I'll be cancelling at the end of my billing period and only using 3G when I really need it.

Wondering if you'll even have the option for the Unlimited Plan ???

Thanks for the info. If anyone else can chime in on ankenycat's comment that would be great. I was under the impression the unlimited plan would be available until the new structure went live on Monday.

I did some chat support with AT&T and there wasn't anything surprising there. Try to activate when you have the ipad and it will give you the available plan options.

What are the 3G data plan options from AT&T?

"There are two monthly data plans: 250MB or 2GB. Customers who order iPad from the Apple Online Store by June 6th will also qualify to purchase an unlimited monthly plan. There’s no contract, and you can sign up and change your service right on your iPad. In addition, AT&T data plans include unlimited access to over 20,000 Wi-Fi hotspots at locations including Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and more."

So how do I setup the unlimited data plan? I ordered it on the 24th and was originaly showing to ship on the 8th of June but luckily shipped out today (June 3rd.)

Suppose I could call sales support.

Funny I don't know because I'm in the WMM department of Applecare.

Where exactly is apple saying this? I work for at&t and I can tell you if it is NOT ACTIVATED before midnight 06-06-10 you will NOT be able to get the unlimited data. I am scrambling to try to get mine activated (will not receive my ipad until after June 15th). I have called at&t customer care with a micro sim card trying to activate through them, and they say they cant activate it. I am at a loss and getting pretty desperate.

I bought an ipad because of the unlimited data plan. The I learned about this madness from att. If you see on this page here
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad?mco=OTY2ODA0NQ
scroll down there is a graph on the right hand side showing data plans. Unless this changes soon you will see under the unlimited section a fine print thats says
"* Available if ordering iPad from the Apple Online Store by June 6"
It does not say anything about activating before, says order by. I called att and they said its up to apple, apple says its up to att...***? Finally got in touch with this guy who said that att will honor this and so will apple...who knows.

Yeah I guess we will just have to see. Just wish I knew more about what the process will entail for setting up the unlimited data plan when you are eligible for it but receive the ipad after the 6th.

When I get someone calling in to Applecare that has purchased an Apple product from a third party vendor and it is past when Apple thinks it should have sold we require the customer to fill out a form online and then fax in the receipt. That way they get the correct date of purchase and the warranty they deserve.

I don't know if AT&T has a similar procedure in place considering everything is supposed to be done directly on the ipad
