Does Mail retrieve email when Mail app is not open?
I just tested out the Mail application to see if it would automatically retrieve email while I was not in Mail. That "Push" setting is on. I used a different email account on yahoo and sent myself an email but icon on home screen did not show the email coming in (red box with number in it) after waiting about 15 minutes. I then opened Mail and the email came in since it always checks right away.
From what I understood, Push setting meant it would automatically retrieve an email whenever it came in, or maybe I misunderstood. What is the point of that new mail red box icon indicator if Mail doesn't retrieve email unless I'm in it and I know already?
When I asked an Apple employee the day before in my Apple store if Mail is retrieving email while I am not in Mail, she said yes and the icon with red box would show that they arrived. Do I have it set up wrong or was that employee wrong?
