iPad as lone internet "computer"

Can I have a home internet setup, having the iPad as the lone "computer"?
I understand I need a computer for synching itunes to get iPad started, and probably to initially set-up the wireless DSL modem/router. Afterwards, can I access the Internet having no "computer"- other than the iPad?

If you have an iPad wi-fi, you can access the internet with your iPad via an available wi-fi network only that you have access to. A computer is not required for this. A computer is required for syncing selected content with your iPad, and for installing an iPad firmware update when released, and for restoring an iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed.

Hi Allan

I note this question is over a couple of years old but I'm a new iPad owner and this relates to what I want to do. However I don't know how to achieve this as I don't want to disturb things and make a complete mess!.Can you advise me how to use my existing hub for the iPad only and still be able to use my laptop for Microsoft Office etc.?

I really would be grateful for any advice at all. I don't want to sync just use my iPad for web browsing and email.

Can you help?

Regards

Anne

If you simply want to connect the iPad to an existing Wifi network then just go into Settings->Wi-Fi and look for the wireless network name your latop is connected to. Tap o it anf follow the prompts.

On the other hand if your network is not wireless, i.e your laptop connects to the "hub" via a wire, then you won't be able to connect the iPad to it.
