Yahoo Mail push not available?

I just realized after playing with my iPad for the past few days that there is no way to configure my Yahoo account to use server Push. If I go under the Mail Settings, click Fetch New Data, then click Advanced, I don't see an option to select Push under the mail account setting... it only allows Fetch and Manual under Select Schedule. On the previous menu, I have Push turned On.

My iPhone is set up correctly and has the option to select Push under the Select Schedule menu. Is the fact that the iPad is Wi-Fi only preventing it from being able to do Push?

Did you create your Yahoo account with the iPad's Mail application using the Yahoo account preset?

Doing so creates the account as an IMAP account which includes Push access for received messages.

I did use the preset to create the account. I just tried deleting / recreating the account but the firewall at work won't let me connect to the IMap server. I'll try again when I get home and see if that fixes things.

Nope, no go. Recreated the account and still don't see the push option.

You won't see the push option, it will automatically set the push feature into the email application. You will only find out if the push is working if u keep the wifi on with internet on range and remain connect!

I'm seeing the same thing you are on my iPad. I set up my account through the iPad and selected Yahoo! The account was successfully verified. On my iPhone (which I set the same way) it shows that it is a Push account (this is located in the mail, contacts, calendars settings for your device), however the account is listed as Fetch on the iPad. It would be interesting to see if anyone else reports the same thing with their iPads and Yahoo! email.

I am experiencing the same thing. It is my understanding that push email is not available for the Ipad.

Push email is available for the iPad because it shows up correctly for my mobileme account. But not for yahoo and gmail email. I can also only choose between Fetch and manual. Maybe this is all part of the strategy of having a 10 hour battery life.

Same here. Gmail is not pushing and there is no option for it. Only for MobileMe. I think you have to just set it to fetch and learn to live with it.

My 2 Yahoo Ymail accounts both show push as an option and work fine. Gmail is not push.

I have Yahoo Plus and push works fine for me albeit slower than on my phone.

The 3G+Wi-Fi model has the options: push, fetch, and manual.

Where the Wi-Fi only model only has the options: fetch, and manual.

I know this because I have both types of iPads. I have recently contacted Yahoo about this problem and explained it in great detail. I'm not sure if it is Yahoo's problem or Apple's but it needs to be fixed.
