Why is my iPad deleting POP messages from the server??

Good evening

Mail on my iPad appears to be deleting received messages from the server once they have downloaded in my POP email account (so that, for example, they do not appear when I later run Mail in my desktop machine). This is is in spite of the fact that iPad Mail is specifically set not to do so.
Is this:
a) A glitch
Or b) A problem with the ISP's server email settings (Virgin Media)?
Any thoughts gratefully received! 🙂

Hi
Ah, so I'm not the only one! I'm not actually sure where the 'ask before delete' function you're thinking of is. I was thinking of 'Settings > [account] > Advanced > Incoming Settings > Delete from server'. As far as I'm aware, that is supposed to stop iPad Mail from deleting mail on the server when downloading it.
Hopefully someone can shed some on this!

I'm having this problem intermittently. It happened this evening when:

1) I reviewed emails on my iPad (Advanced > Delete from server > Never)
2) Later, went to my Macbook to retrieve my emails ... two messages didn't show up!

Seems to be working fine now. However, I am going to be extra careful with messages that I have downloaded to iPad. My short term fix is to forward these messages from my iPad back to myself. Crazy solution!

I think there's a place around here to report a bug like this ...

I discovered my problem. I had fired up an old computer (Win XP machine) to look for some very old emails. The email client -- although set up to check for new mail manually (I have to click a button) -- automatically downloaded my two messages when it was not supposed to check for messages. So, for me, the bug is on my Windows email client -- Windows Live Mail. The iPad and Mac behaved properly.

Bottom line, I still need to be careful with POP mail ...
