Why is my iPad deleting POP messages from the server??

Happening to me, too. Cameron, when you say that Ipad Mail is set not to delete your email, did you mean the "Ask Before Deleting" function?

I've lost all email back to May 28th so far, and more is lost every time I hit Mail.

I was having the ipad delete from server, but then decided not to.

I think I had to re-start the ipad after turning it to "Never".

Press and Hold the Home and Wake Sleep buttons until the Apple Logo appears.

The safest way is to set the iPad to never select from server. Use your desktop/laptop to clean up your inbox.

I'm having this problem intermittently. It happened this evening when:

1) I reviewed emails on my iPad (Advanced > Delete from server > Never)
2) Later, went to my Macbook to retrieve my emails ... two messages didn't show up!

Seems to be working fine now. However, I am going to be extra careful with messages that I have downloaded to iPad. My short term fix is to forward these messages from my iPad back to myself. Crazy solution!

I think there's a place around here to report a bug like this ...

I discovered my problem. I had fired up an old computer (Win XP machine) to look for some very old emails. The email client -- although set up to check for new mail manually (I have to click a button) -- automatically downloaded my two messages when it was not supposed to check for messages. So, for me, the bug is on my Windows email client -- Windows Live Mail. The iPad and Mac behaved properly.

Bottom line, I still need to be careful with POP mail ...

I am very irritated by this problem too. At first I thought I had lost emails completely until I realised that I could find them in 'deleted' files on the server and resend them to myself. has anyone had a solution from Apple yet?

has any one found out a solution to this issue i have a client that is having the same issue. The email when checked by the ipad is pulling the POP email off the server even though the setting is set to leave it on the server for 7 days.
