Card reader issues

Card reader issues

I just purchased the camera/card reader for my ipad. I have followed the simple instructions provided with the card reader but nothing happens when I plug it in to my ipad. I have tried restarting my ipad, removing the card reader and card and reinserting it but NOTHING happens. Do I have to install software or turn somthing on somewhere?

Sorry for the stupid question, but did you insert a card into the reader?

Also make sure the adapter is seated properly, especially if you have your iPad in a case.

No software is required. What specifically are you trying to do? If connected to a camera some cameras require a setting to see the images on the camera and it does not work for all camera. If using the card in the connector it only sees photos and videos if they are in a directory titled DCIM in the root directory. Also, do you have a case? The kit connectors are large and the case can prevent proper seating of the connector in the ipad.

No, I do not have a case on my ipad. All I am trying to do is insert the card reader and have it open the SD card I've inserted. The card is a Sandisk Memory Stick Pro duo.

To my knowledge a memory stick is not the same as an SD card. They are listed differently in a Google search. However, you can probably find a USB Memory Stick reader that will plug into the camera connection kit's USB thing and read the Memory Stick.

a memory stick pro duo and SD card are completely different. The memory stick is a proprietary hardware element specifically for sony cameras... the USB cable that the camera came with should work with the USB adapter...

Memory sticks are definitely not supported, Apple states: "Apple does not recommend or support using the iPad Camera Connector with devices other than cameras"

I have succesfully used the CCK and a SnaDisk card reader to get photos and videos from:
compact flash
Smart Media
Memory Stick

I also use the USB CCK for USB sticks.
