Open In window locks Mail app

I was reading an email with a .doc attachment. The doc file opened alright, and when I selected the "Open In" window, the document closed and left the "open in" window open.

Mail has frozen. When I close the application and reopen it I am returned to the same emai with the "open in" window open. The mail program is frozen, and the only option is to close it down.

Anyone else have this problem?

does this happen with all .docs or just specific ones?

I'm not sure if other attachments will be a problem. At this point Mail is locked up by this. I will have to try a restart.

Try force quitting the app.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then press and hold the Home button until the application quits.

I've also had this problem several times in the last few days and have't been able to isolate a particular type of attachment that causes the problem...but the force quit solution worked. Thank you. I did not find the instructions for force quitting an app anywhere in the iPad support docs, but I probably wasn't looking in the right place.
