iPad questions that are probably easy for veterans

Hi there,
I just got an ipad. I'm not well versed in Mac because it's my only Mac product. I'll get right to the point...

1. Can I set a homepage on Safari?
2. How do I actually CLOSE a program? By clicking the Home button you exit but doesn't the program or app still stay active somewhere in the background, thereby draining battery? Or does it not work like that?
3. Any way to get the iPad to STOP asking me for my itunes password? Do you really have to type it in every time?

Thank you all!

1. You can't set up a home page, but the closest thing is by bookmarking your favorite link and keeping it in the background -- On the top icons (to the right of the right arrow), you'll see the double square, if you click on that, it will show you the open pages that you have going. You can use this to easily keep a favorite website handy.

2. You close a program by pressing the home button. The program doesn't run because the operating system won't allow it until OS 4.0 comes out. Certain programs you can opt to receive notifications and a message will pop on the screen but that can be disabled in the settings panel.

3. No. It will ask you for a password I believe on a daily basis at least. It's a security measure so that unauthorized downloads will be prevented.
