I downloaded the digital copies of two movies to my itunes account. I can see the movies on my MacBook Pro. I hooked up my daughter's ipads to put the movies on them and though when I click the movie to apply, it shows video taking up space on their ipads, the "apply" or sync doesn't actually put it on.

Their ipads sync with my MacBook Pro, but they each have their own itunes accounts. How do I get the movies onto their ipads?

Any help would be appreciated as we hop on a plane in 24 hours! Thanks!

If the movies are from iTunes they're locked to the Apple ID they were purchased on.
For future reference:
A shared family Apple ID for iTunes.
A personal iCloud account.

Thank you

Thanks for the advice. If everyone has the same AppleId, won't my kids get my text messages? Or am I mistaking something else when I originally set up their ipads? When I got a text, they did too. I thought giving them an AppleId is what stopped that. Thanks ahead of time!

Your Apple ID is personal, keep it to yourself for your devices only. Make your kids create a personal one too. No money on your personal accounts.
An iTunes account will be for purchases / rentals only. i.e. the Apple app store (iOS and or Mac) only.
Hint: Don't use a CC but use iTunes cards only, as a bonus they're often on sale for 20% off. They can also be used to pay for a Netflix account.
