My iPad no longer appears in the iTunes desktop app, so I can't sync or transfer files?

I also have an iPod Touch. It appears in iTunes but willnot sync... "unknown error 1723"

This is a recent problem. Everything was fine initially, and I don't think that I've done anything to change my setup.

One possibility is a problem with your USB cable, or the USB port on your computer that it's plugged into.

If not he cable, try this - On the iTunes window on your computer, click the eject button next to your iPhone/iPad and restart iTunes. Then reconnect the iPhone/iPad.

Also suggest you do a Google search using error 1723 sync ipad. There seems to be a variety of problems that can cause this error.

As for the USB situation, I've fiddle around with various combos or ports and cables without any success. This should be irrelevant anyway since all my devices are wireless through the same router. My USB connection for iPod Touch is for power only. With my iPad I use a power adapter, so haven't had to plug into my iMac at all.

I found a solution of sorts for my iPod Touch synching issue elsewhere in these discussions, but still can't figure out why my iPad won't show up in iTunes. I can't do my file transfers without that.
