Hi,

Thinking of getting an ipad wifi and have a question....

I was contemplating getting the 3g version but as i would take it out probably 2-3 times a year couldnt see the ;point in paying loads more for this few occasions.

Could i connect to the internet on the ipad by connecting it to my phone via bluetooth or wifi to use the phones connection?

set your phone so it acts as a wifi AP. It can be done like that on a iphone. You do need to jailbreak your iPhone to make it an AP.

What phone do you have?

I have a jailbroken iPhone and use MyWi to create a wireless access point for my WiFi iPad.

Depending on the model of phone you have, I'm sure you'll find a suitable app or program to do the same.

Whilst using the iPhone as an access point the images on the web are slightly fuzzy as they are compressed to save bandwidth, it's still very useable though, although not officially allowed by most phone networks, I hoping that my tethering goes unnoticed by my phone operator.

I really don't see why it's against their T&C's, as I'm paying for unlimited data so as long as I don't abuse the network I think we should all be allowed to tether.

I pay for my home broadband, which is unused for most of the time whilst I'm out of the house, and I pay for unlimited data on my mobile phone tariff, it's crazy really and I think the UK really should step up it's efforts to provide wifi coverage, I'm sure we'll all be paying a broadband tax soon, I would gladly pay a small extra fee to make this happen.
