Device To Connect To Network

Apr 11, 2010

This is my second Ipad. The first one I returned after one day because of the sleep/wake issue. The replacement working without issue for a week, and now the same problem is back.I am NOT going to mess with my router, and find the suggestions by the company to be ridiculous. I should not have to jump through hoops to get this device to connect to my network. In my apt we have...Xbox 360, WII, Iphone, Nexus One phone, Ipod touch, Asus Netbook. All devices connnect without issue. My router is not old...It was replaced in the past 6 months.

App To Track Location / Print Central To Allow To Any Device On Network / Device Similar To The Verizon Mobile Hotspot

Jun 12, 2010

First off, if this is in the wrong area, I'm sorry. My company 1500+ employees has decided to move the the iPad 3g and Wireless units as laptop replacements and I had a couple questions.

1) Is there an app that can be loaded to track the location of an iPad (in case it gets stolen)...maybe run in the background so it doesn't have an icon and therefore be deleted. If not, just an app even with an icon. Someone mentioned Mobile Me but I'm not sure if that's one that meets my needs.

2) Does Print Central really allow you print to any device on your network, wifi or if you are connected via Citrix?

3) Is there a device similar to the Verizon mobile hotspot (accessory, MIFI 2200) that would open a wifi hotspot (monthly subscription i'm sure). My boss mentioned NovaTel MiFI 2372 but I was told specifically by the Apple Store that no such device exists short of Jailbreaking and since it will be enterprise devices, jailbreaking isnt even an option.

Unable To Connect To Network/can't Even Connect To My Home Network?

Jun 28, 2010

Title says it all, bought a 64gig iPad wifi today...little did i know tons of users are having wifi problems...my problem doesnt seem to fit the others though. Most of what i've read people can connect for a bit,

and after being in sleep mode then it has problems. I can't even connect to my home network. Works fine with my ipod Touch, laptop, etc. I dont have any form of security set up on my router what so ever. I plan on buying a new router soon (for reasons other than this iPad crap.)

I'd really like to see some kind of resolution to this problem before i need to do that though.I tried all that i could out of the trouble shooting stuff. nothing worked. I even tried setting up a static IP for it. What else can be done? i really dont want to have to return it since its such a nice piece of tech.

Unable To Connect With Secure Network/my MacBook It Was A Number We Got In The Network Panel?

May 22, 2010

I don't know the proper lingo, being network illiterate, but I'm at at retreat where there is an ultra secure wireless signal set up where you can't just get the signal and enter the password, the host has to actually go in and manually add individual computer ID info in order to allow access --

for my macBook it was a number we got in the Network panel, under Ethernet # or something like that?THere doesn't seem to be an equivalent for the iPad that I can find. Sorry for the vagueness, but can anyone point me in a likely direction?

Unable To Connect Wi-fi Network/network Ask For A Code?

Sep 22, 2010

In the lobby of a motel with wi-fi network. The instructions was that upon initial connection the network would ask for a code which was to be entered. I went to setting, selected wi-fi and the name of the network it found. The Ipad brought up a new page containing a sign-in form.

When I selected the entry block to start the typing of the code the keyboard came up but then the key board went away before I could enter a letter. I tried it several times.Getting faster I was able to enter 4 of the letters. But the numbers were impossible because it took two actions on the keyboard to get a number.

Using It As A Network Device?

May 2, 2011

I would like to be able to access the content of my iPad on my home network. The reason for this is I have a networked AV reciever, and to access content, in this case music files, it looks for folders. Thus far I have successfully connected the reciever to my iTunes folder on the C:/ drive of the main PC, and to a music folder on an external hard drive. Is there some way to view the content of the iPad as a network folder so that I can select it for the reciever. By the way, I am making the selections for what folders the reciever looks in via winamp remote.

Unable To Connect /can Connect To My Guest Network?

Aug 15, 2010

I have a Time Capsule set up with a Guest Network. Two of my visiting siblings both have iPads (one with v3.2 and one with v3.2.1) and neither of them can connect to my Guest Network.

I tried changing the security type for the Guest Network and even turning it off altogether, so no password would be required, but neither iPad would connect. The Guest Network itself appears to work fine, as my wife's MacBook connected to it no problem.

As a temporary solution, I added my sister's iPad's MAC address to my access control list and let her join my primary network, but I'd really like to figure out why the iPads are being excluded from the Guest Network

Why Can't Any Apple Device On Home Network Determine Their Location

Jun 18, 2012

Ever since updating my router, I have not been able to determine my location. When I connect the device to a cellular WIFI hotspot the location can be determined. what does Apple use to determine your location when using WIFI? I am under the assumption that the locations are determined via MAC address of the router that you are specifically connected to. If this is so, the data base holding the addresses would need to be managed and updated at regular intervals to maintain accuracy. When and how does Apple do this? I have not been able to determine my location for at least a year now.

It Will Automatically Switch To The Device With The Strongest Signal / Network?

Jun 22, 2012

I have a cable modem at home setup with a Linksys router that has wifi enabled on it. It is setup on the main floor of my house, for the sake of this example say the network name is currently set as Nathan.

My wife uses wifi on a laptop on the main floor. The problem is on the second floor in my bedroom, the signal drops in and out and I like to use my ipad there.

To solve the problem I've run a network cable to the bedroom and bought this dlink access point: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001P817YO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

My plan was to set this access point with the same wifi network name as the main router on the main floor (Nathan) with the hope that the iPad will automatically move to the device with the strongest signal so when I'm upstairs it would be on the upstairs access point and when downstairs the downstairs one.

Will this work? I have the original iPad Or is there a better way to solve this? Oh, I should add that I've tried wifi boosters and different antennas, none of them worked, my house must be made out of lead or something, so I decided the only way to know I can solve it is with an access point in the same room.

Unable To Connect To WPA2 Network - Unable To Join Network Name

Aug 22, 2010

I cannot connect my iPad to a wireless network running WPA2. I simply get the message back "Unable to join the network network name". This has been tried on an Airport Express and a Cisco wireless concentrator. Disabling WPA2 and the iPad will connect to both networks without issues. What is iPads support for WPA and WPA2? No issues with either Macs running Mac OS X or other PCs running Windows or Linux on the same network.
