System Wide Brightness Dimmer

I am unhappy with the current brightness dimmer for iPad's iOs. When turned down to the minimum in preferences it is still way too bright to use at night like in bed. It lights up the whole room and my wife is not too pleased. As I flick through images or watch video, I notice too much flickering of light in the room and its uncomfortable for her to sleep.
I really like iBooks lowest setting which is much dimmer than the systems, and I use the Night browser to surf though I can't use my bookmarks from Safari. Is there a jailbreak or a way to hack the iPad that can just have the same function as ibooks, night browser or comiczeal? I do a lot of typing, surfing and doing some brainstorming for work before i sleep. I just wish I can without disturbing my wife.

Auto-brightness - Ability To Get Dimmer

Is anyone else having auto-brightness problems with their iPad? Mine seems to work when going from a dark room to a highly lit room. The screen will get brighter. It's when I go from a highly lit room to a dark room that the brightness stays at the higher level and doesn't adjust down. My iPhone works nicely. It will adjust either way. This iPad only gets brighter and doesn't have the ability to get dimmer. Mac OS X (10.6.3)

New Backlight Go Much Dimmer

The new backlight is able to go *much* dimmer than previous models! I had an iPad 1 and an iPad 2 and I always wished the display could be dimmer.

I have a Ipad V1 and noticed some strange things. A portion of the screen (a rectangle that represents about 25% of the total surface) is sometimes dimmer. When this happens, this portion might also flicker.

Auto Brightness Enabled - Controls The Brightness With It's Light Sensor

I'm assuming I'm right in thinking with auto brightness enabled the iPad controls the brightness with it's light sensor. If that's the case then why when it is enabled and I move the slider this overrides the auto battery. So what are the best settings slider down and auto or slide up and auto what's best for battery.

Wide Is The Bezel?

I've heard the criticism that the iPad bezel is too wide, but something occurred to me. Given the way it will be handled, the wide bezel is perfectly appropriate. Simply put, you need a place for your fingers/hands to hold the thing without unintended screen input.
With a laptop you want a narrow bezel for aesthetics, but you don't hold the screen. Ditto for the iPhone, but you wrap your hand around the back (not really possible on the iPad).It seems to me that the wide bezel may actually be a good thing... I'm just sayin'.

Having No Wide Screen Resolution?

I love my iPad. But I still can't figure out why they went with 1024x768, instead of a nice wide-screen resolution, preferably 1280x720. It sure would of been nice, as it would save me from having to crop or zoom in on many Movies to just get full-screen. Maybe the only reason I can come up with, is it would look a little long when holding it in Portrait mode. Would you have preferred a wide-screen iPad?

Compared to all the competition (including Nexus 7), Apple seems to insist on keeping the old style, square 4:3 screen ratio instead of going with a wide screen 16:9. Considering the advantages in viewing movies/videos with wide screen, why does Apple continue to stay with the old 4:3 for iPad?

Unable To Connect 802.11n Wide Channels

It doesn't look like the iPad works with the "wide channels" feature of Apples 11n base stations. I have an Airport Extreme setup at 5 ghz with wide channels, my MB Pro and iMac work fine, but the iPad gives me an error when trying to connect.

The CEO wanted this asap so a few managers have bought an iPad themselves and are already using it with there personal iTunes accounts.The IT Manager would like to centralize the management of the iPads. IPad 2 :: Embedded Youtube Videos Within Facebook Are Too Wide?

Starting yesterday embedded youtube videos within Facebook are too wide, meaning they cover up some of the options related to the link. I can't see the comments links etc. Why is this occuring? I have logged in on my wifes ipad and its fine. The difference is she is using Safari 4.0 and I have Safari 5.0 and an idpad 2. It works on our desktop computer in both IE 8 and Firefox as well. Thoughts?

Its either white strips or coloured strips.. even if i switch it off and on its still there , resets it still there but it could go totally blank at times but the rest of the screen is still touchable even at the covered area is still touchable u just cant see it WHY? I love my ipad so much to watch it and use it like its a crippled old man... its just about 4 days old.

Ipad Movie Size - Actual Viewable Area Of A Movie (wide Screen)

I plan on buying an Ipad soon but need to know the actual viewable area of a movie (wide screen) when shown in the 4:3 format. In other words, how much real estate does the picture have after considering the black bars on top and bottom of screen? I know the Ipad is 9.7 or close to that diagonally. Obviously black bars take up a fair chunk of that when watching a 2:35 widescreen movie though. Could you show me pictures of a movie on the Ipad just to get an idea of what it will look like?
My second question is about the rumored Ipad Mini. Will this device be next to useless showing movies on. (too small) If the big Ipad has a lot of real estate stolen by black bars, wont that mean the mini will be close to the iphone in terms of viewing area or am i getting confused? Would the mini be 4:3 ratio or 3:2 similar to iphone?

looking to buy iPad, but running system 10.4.11. Apparently I need Leopard at minimum, my G5 won't run Snow Leopard (not Intel), but I cannot buy just Leopard. 10.5 no longer available.Suggestions Apple? My G5 ain't that old, but seemingly now total junk and not upgradeable.

Need To Down The Brightness

You can turn the brightness down in the iBooks app. However, you can't maintain this brightness level after you exit the app. I guess this is a request to let us turn the system brightness down some more, since at night even the lowest brightness level is too bright for me. Clearly the ipad is capable of using a lower brightness since ibooks supports it.
