View 3 RepliesI have them both turned on, but they aren't working. No corrections and no red lines.
Info:iPad, iOS 5.1
I recently got an iPad 2 and have happily been using the Pages app. This week, the spell check facility is no longer working, i.e. incorrectly spelt words no longer have a red line under them. I have checked and tried permutations of the spell check, auto correct etc settings in both Pages and the 'global' iPad Settings app to no avail.Spell check, however, does still work in other applications such as Notes.
Searching the web, the closest I can find is that this problem has occured with Pages on MacBook and is resolved by:Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist
empty the Trash restart Pages. However, I don't know how anything like this can be achieved on the iPad 2.
Can anyone tell me if the Pages app has a spell check component? Information : IPad
View 2 RepliesIs there a way on iPad to add words to spell check. I routinely type product names that don't fall into the common US dictionary. Of course because these words are close to other words it does correct them to what it thinks is correct. if there is a way to add words so these can be caught.

How do I turn auto spell check off ?
View 6 RepliesIs this stupidity limited to 4.2.1, or was it always present. I want to enable spell check but to disable autocorrect. The system does not allow this, as when I enavle spell check, then disable autocorrect, spell ckeck then gets set to off! This is retarted and absurd. Spell check by itself should simple put a red underline on a word that spellcheck does not like. When the user taps on the word, suggestions should be available. I can't stand when programs or devices think that they are smarter than I am.

How to disable the spell check suggestions? It's annoying when you are typing in your native languages.
View 6 RepliesHow do I access the dictionary used for spell check?
View 2 RepliesUsing ipad 2 by itself, spell check works. using with zagg blue tooth keyboard, no spell check. apple tech support said "no known issues," however it is likely that this is a known issue. zagg developers say that ios turns off auto correct and spell check in the bluetooth interface.
Info:iPad 2, iOS 5.1
Apple is on their 3rd generation of iPad and they still aren't allowing bluetooth keyboards to work along with spell check.
View 2 RepliesDoes the ipad have auto sell check on e-mail? If so, how do I actvate (turn on) this feature?
View 9 RepliesOne feature I simply love in OS X is the global spellcheck and dictionary. I know the global spellcheck exists on the iPad, but what about the dictionary popup? On a Mac, it's a simple Ctrl+Cmd+D and I get the definition and a thesaurus tab, does this exist on the iPad too?

This image looks like it, but can you do that in Safari as well as iBooks?

View 2 RepliesGreek spell checking, in iPad (IOS 7.1.1), works only if auto-correct mode has been enabled in general settings [Settings / General / Keyboard / Auto-correction = On]. The problem is that in this case wile typing, spellchecker suggests wrong words that you have to refuse manually by touching the x sign in the suggestion cloud. This makes fast typing impossible and the risk of having the wrong word in your text very high and some times quite embracing. Now to solve this problem, if you switch Auto-correct mode to Off and keep Check Spelling mode to On, it works with English but not with Greek although the system has the Greek dictionary.

While writing in Spanish , the English spell check will not allow me or is super annoying to write in spanish. I don't want spell check.......how do i turn it off
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone have this problem on their iPad? I'm getting correctly spelled words marked with red underline as misspelled. For example I have had the word "that" marked as misspelled. When I click on the word "that", it does not give me an option for the word. I could go on with several examples of common words that are spelled correctly, but the iPad is marking them as misspelled.

I'm really enjoying my ipad but there are a couple of things that aren't working as expected. The first thing is auto correction.I was expecting a similar experience to the iphone with common spelling mistakes to be auto corrected. And other neat features like the letter I to be automatically capitalized. Instead it doesn't show any suggestions at all. It seems like there's not dictionary in it.
So if I mistype a word the next time I'll mistype it or type something close to that it'll bring up the misspelled word as the suggestion. Is there some kind of dictionary I need to enable?
Is it possible to TURN OFF the automatic spell/word checker? It keeps changing my words to what it thinks it should be and I have to constantly change things back.
