App To Track Location / Print Central To Allow To Any Device On Network / Device Similar To The Verizon Mobile Hotspot

Jun 12, 2010

First off, if this is in the wrong area, I'm sorry. My company 1500+ employees has decided to move the the iPad 3g and Wireless units as laptop replacements and I had a couple questions.

1) Is there an app that can be loaded to track the location of an iPad (in case it gets stolen)...maybe run in the background so it doesn't have an icon and therefore be deleted. If not, just an app even with an icon. Someone mentioned Mobile Me but I'm not sure if that's one that meets my needs.

2) Does Print Central really allow you print to any device on your network, wifi or if you are connected via Citrix?

3) Is there a device similar to the Verizon mobile hotspot (accessory, MIFI 2200) that would open a wifi hotspot (monthly subscription i'm sure). My boss mentioned NovaTel MiFI 2372 but I was told specifically by the Apple Store that no such device exists short of Jailbreaking and since it will be enterprise devices, jailbreaking isnt even an option.

No Indication Of Device Charging / ITunes Not Recognizing Device

Sep 29, 2010

I am having an issue with my iPad.Recently, I noticed that when plugging the cable into it, there is no indication of the device charging. The battery at the top of the screen remains as if there is no power getting to the device.iTunes doesn't recognize the device either (Not even in Recovery Mode)
HOWEVER, if I power the device all the way down and plug the cable in, the iPad shows the image of a battery with a lightning bolt on it. It will charge this way, but as soon as the device boots up, it quits.Anybody else have this issue before? Tested on Windows XP, Win7, and Snow Leopard.

Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Updating Device - Update Twice For Each Device ?

Jun 14, 2011

I know with some platforms you can't update to the newest OS until you are updated to the latest OS before it. I have an iPad and iPod Touch, but I haven't updated them to the latest OSes because the update is miniscule and it takes about a couple of hours to update each fully...So basically, when OS5 drops will I need to update twice for each device, or can I go right from the OS i'm on to OS5?

Won't Connect With WiFi / Router Works Perfectly With Other Wifi Device

Dec 12, 2010

I've had my iPad for a couple of weeks now, and I've nothing but problems maintaining a connection to my wireless router (D-Link WBR-2310) - the router works perfectly with other Wi-Fi devices (non-Apple), but with the iPad 6 inches from the router, the connection fails. It's gotten progressively worse until now it won't connect at all. I've tried a system reset, tried all of the suggestions posted here and elsewhere on the Web - it simply doesn't work. The iPad is defective, plain and simple. This HAS to be resolved. Running iOS 3.2.2 (7B500)

Information:
iPad 32G
iPhone OS 3.1.3

Use WiFi-only IPad As A Mapping Device?

Mar 29, 2012

I plan to purchase a Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver so I can get mapping information on my wifi-only iPad while on the go, while driving and hiking in remote locations. Of course this only works if there is a decent app that has maps built-in. What apps do people recommend for a) driving, b) hiking?

Old Apps And WiFi Option Disappeared From Device

May 9, 2012

I couldn't understand why I lost my wifi on my first version ipad. I did a hard reboot and I attempted to sync it to my new mac computer. I soon realized all my old apps and wifi option on my ipad disappeared. My old computer has a virus and I attempted to sync to the itunes on that account but I cannot update the itunes account on that computer for some reason so I cannot sync it to the old computer. What do I do to have the ability to even enter a wifi account on this ipad. Under settings, wifi says, no wifi and doesn't even let me select the option. I tried going under general, then network and once again, it says VPN not connected then wifi says no wifi. My apple computer has the wifi account listed...cannot sync to it.

Wifi Passwords 'forgotten' After Restoring Device

Apr 25, 2012

I have a backup of one of my iPads - the device which is backed up connects to a few different wifi networks and obviously has the passwords for those networks saved.

The problem is that when I restore from that backup, all the wifi passwords are forgotten.

I know the networks are not being forgotten as a few require additional proxy settings (IP etc) and those details copy across, just not the passwords. It's incredibly annoying, considering I restore 30 devices from this backup every week, which all then need all the wifi passwords entered manually for each network.

Sony Dash Internet Viewer - WIFI Device

Jan 6, 2010

We've got another one, folks: Sony's doing a tablet. The Dash Internet Viewer is a touchscreen WiFi device which can be propped up like a digital photo or toted around the home like... a tablet. Sony claims to have "over 1,000 free apps," which sounds dubious but potentially exciting, and we're already feeling that Gmail widget on the home screen pictured above.

Picked Up My 64gb WiFi Model - Activating The Device

Apr 5, 2010

I picked up my 64gb WiFi model at the Apple Store today and before I left I decided to take advantage of the in-store set up and upon them activating the device in iTunes I immediately noticed 4 dead pixels. I showed them to e Apple Employee and he went a got a Genius and they captured the device and exchanged it for me. The replacement unit was fine and had zero dead or stuck pixels, but after taking it home and playing with it for several hours all of a sudden I now have a solid vertical green line of stuck pixels.
