I received the wifi version on 4/3 and now it appears I will be receiving the 3g version on 4/30 -when i activate the 3g version, will it automatically download all apps loaded to the first wifi model, paid or free to the new 3g version, at no additional cost.
View 8 RepliesRight so i went over lakeside shopping center today to look at the ipad and my first thought was i have to have this, BUT i am in two minds weather to get it has i already have an iphone 3gs and a imac, what do people think i should do? also i am not sure weather to get the wifi version or the 3g version, i am going more towards the wifi version as i won't be taking out a lot with me and if i do i will only be going to places were i am going to be able to use wifi.

If I download an item by buying it directly through the iTunes app on my iPad, are they giving me the 1080p version or the 720p version? I have the setting in iTunes set that I prefer 1080p, but I wasn't sure if I am getting the highest quality video possible.Or do I need to buy it on my computer to ensure 1080p and then transfer to the iPad?
why does some websites automatically goes to the mobile website version instead of the full site? very annoying! is there a setting to use the full site when possible?

I know you can always just go tot the mobile version then click the 'Standard' desktop version link at the bottom of that page to visit the desktop version of Twitter, but I'd like to know if there is a direct link that will force an iPad to display the desktop version.

Notice that in this video, the ipad used for navigation is the wifi version (no black frame founded), and the owner just launched the Maps apple to navigate, which is incredible!
How did he do that?
I am trying to decide but is paying the extra money worth it? I saw my friend's play with their iPad and they had the wifi version and it seemed to be really fast.

If I stick with the WiFi version would I be able to use my iPhone's tethering for the iPad? EDIT, I'm in Australia so I have access to tethering without a jailbreak.
I can't imagine Optus would have a problem with that since they would get a $15 a month tethering fee out of me that they wouldn't get if I just had a 3G iPad.

This problem, previously not present in my iPhone, appeared when updating to version 4. You know why? Which are the solutions? Thanks

View 25 RepliesI have the iPad Gen 1 with both WiFi and cellular data capabilities. Since I can now tether my iPad to my iPhone I no longer maintain my cell phone account on my iPad. Even with my cell phone data plan off, I can see a location pin move on the map if I first set this up while I am connected to a WiFi area.
I was wondering if the new iPad with WiFi only hardware, will still show the pin on the Maps app moving as you travel with your iPad - if you have first set this up while you were in a WiFi zone where you opened the Map app and set up directions?

I have a Belkin auto charger for the iPhone. When I tried it out on my WiFi iPad, it didn't switch over to external power. I returned the WiFi for the 3G which I got yesterday. To my surprise, when I plugged in the 3G iPad, the external power indicator came on as it powered "on" the iPad.
Is this possible that somehow the 3G can use auto accessories that the WiFi can't? Has anyone seen this?

I am in New York City metro area and 3g speeds are ridiculously slow compared to Verizon(4x slower last time I checked using speedtest bandwidth test). I have a jailbroken iphone using mywi hotspot app and wonder if I will get same speeds using mywi and using ipad 3g.
