I know that the HDMI has a resolution max of 1080p, but aren't all HD iTunes movies at 720p. Wouldn't Apple's component cable serve the same purpose of the HDMI cable?
View 1 RepliesI had heard there was a way to have monaural vs. stereo output from the output jack. Does anybody know if this is possible?

I haven't had any luck on doing a search to find any appsgames, movie players, whatever that output 1080p from the iPad 2 to an HDTV.
I already have RealRacing 2, and it works & looks great on an HDTV. What I'm looking for is a list, or at least a webpage or something, that shows what App Store apps support 1080p out (besides RR2).
It appears that the HDMI output for 3rd party apps start in Portrait first, then switches to landscape if your iPad is in landscape mode. A slight hesitation, nothing major but a little bit of an eyesore.
The built in Apps seem to work fine, check out my video:[URL]
Is it possible to have the video play on the iPad simultaneously as it outputs to composite cable? Whenever I play a video with the composite cable plugged in, the iPad displays a screen shot of a random video (same screen shot every single time). It's a complete mystery to me.
View 1 RepliesWe are looking to use iPad as one of our mobile clients that will need to interface to our backend applications via Microsoft WCF web services. I know NOTHING about developing for Apple, so am wondering if anyone knows if this is feasible? Or even if I am in the right forum for a question like this?
View 1 RepliesThe iPad display is higher resolution than the iPhone 4. It would be nice if when I use an iPhone app on my iPad that is built for a retina display if it was not downscaled to a non-retina resolution. This would make the apps built for the retina display way more usable on the iPad.
View 10 RepliesI was trying to download some apps from my new iPad, but it stopped while I downloading. Now, the icons say "waiting" but never worked out. It looks like stopped completely...My iPad said if you have downloading problems, connect to iTunes from your computer, but my Mac is very old one, so can't support the latest iTunes...Is there anyways if I can solve this problem without connecting computer?
I deleted the icons then trying to download again, but it said "you have already purchased this app, will be fine when you connect to your computer" There are 2 apps that I have purchased, one is free and the other is $2.99.
Also, I turned off my iPad then turned on again, but didn't work out.
This seems like a pretty simple question but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere - which apps support external video display? The ipad guide only lists the following: "Of the built-in applications, Videos, Photos, and YouTube support external video display." This means Safari doesn't support video out...?Obviously, keynote will support video out but will pages? numbers? any of the news/book apps? How can one find out short of hooking it up and trying it?
View 14 RepliesiPad 1 does not support Airplay Mirror so the app itself has to be able to stream screen content (just like iTunes for music on iPad 1). Have been searching for hours. None explicitly say that they do and I can't just buy every application until I find one that suppports airplay.

View 1 RepliesHow I can upgrade my iPad (iOS 3.2.2) to iOS 4.0.0 or later ? I have my iPad (the first version) from 2 years ago. Now I have a trouble to download some apps in App Store just because of the requirements doesn't support for my iPad. Nowadays most of apps are need iOS 4.0.0 or iOS 5.0.0. How to upgrade my iPad (iOS 3.2.2) to iOS 4.0.0 or later?

I've had it for just a couple of hours but already am getting quite fed-up at just how much is wrong with the iPad. Ok, so there's all the things like no SD slot etc., but I'm also annoyed that the iPad iWork apps don't support iWork '08. I can't believe I have to now buy iWork 09 to make my docs compatible.
And also the screen. We're a good decade into 16:9 and a few years into HD but the iPad has a 4:3 screen. For a device that is designed for watching videos, that seems really, really odd. A nice, big 10" screen but movies come out TINY!
I'm writing this message as today after iPhone OS 4.0 preview I got really disappointed with Steve's answer to one of the question "if you see a stylus, they blew it". I really think this is wrong. I know it's been some time since Steve has gone to uni but making notes, annotations or writing equations without a pen isn't much fun!Giving people a choice to buy or not to buy the stylus won't hurt Apple. I know that there are some alternatives not developed by Apple, but apparently they're not that good/accurate.Surely adding a feature to PDF Preview or Keynote to support annotations as hand writing wouldn't be too much of a challenge to Apple's development team, or would it?
View 16 RepliesSince upgrading to iOS 4.2.1 on my iPad, I have not been able to send video to my TV while using the Apple VGA Adapter.
Although I didn't use this feature a lot since purchasing the iPad and adapter, I did verify that this feature did work before.
I have verified that my RGB-PC input appears to work on the TV, as my laptop successfully is displaying on the TV.
The apps that I am testing against are Photos (slideshow mode), You Tube, Keynote presentations, Videos .
Is there some setup configuration that I'm missing?

iPad dock plugged into wall charger and external audio jack, iPad dock plugged into 2amp car charger by itself, iPad dock plugged into external audio jack by itself, iPad dock plugged into 2amp car charger AND audio jack - The iPad will continue to charge but will not output sound from the audio jack. It will simply play music through it's internal speakers. I placed my iPhone into the iPad dock and it has the same results, no audio through the external output. However if I swap the dock with Apple's universal dock, the iPhone charges AND outputs audio. I'm just curious why the iPad dock would disable the audio output once you plug into the car charger that is rated to work for the iPad??

I know the ipad is currently not capable of outputting HD video to a monitor. Is this a software issue that may be remedied by an update or is the hardware just not capable of such a task.
View 2 RepliesWas wondering if the resolution output from the VGA cable was better than that from the composite HD cable? Does the VGA cable output at 720p and the composite at 576p only?

I do seminars for the over 60's in the RV lifestyle. I need to output the iPad to a projector. Videos work just fine as does Keynote. However to demonstrate other programs "live" there is zero output. This makes life extremely difficult and just fails miserably to demonstrate the ease of use that encourages oldies to take the plunge and buy an iPad!
