Would love it if subfolders would update their counts when checking email. Supporing the filters I have on Mail would be great too!

Email Checking Is Slow?

Apr 15, 2012

Why does my iPad take so long to check or send email? I have my own mail server. My PC, Mac, etc complete the tasks on the same network in a millisecond.

The email account is hosted by a server running mercury and is imap but my pop accounts behave the same way. I have the server defined on a local ip address. It takes sometimes 5 minutes to send and email but they usually go thru. Checking email gives a spinning circle for over a minute.

Can't Stop Mail Checking Email...

Nov 12, 2010

I've turned Fetch New Data to Manual. I've also gone to Advanced and made sure that each separate email account is set to Manual and have also turned off Push. However, Mail keeps checking and downloading new emails without me even opening the application. This is kind of annoying and i can't understand why it does this. does anyone have any advice? am i missing a setting that needs to switched on or off?

How To Stop Email Checking When First Entering In Mail App?

May 12, 2010

Whenever I enter the iPad Mail app, it automatically downloads my messages even though I have all my fetch settings set to "manual". Is there a way to disable this? I only want to fetch messages when I say so. For example, in Mac OS Mail, I check my email manually -- when I first launch the Mac OS Mail app, nothing

To Stop Checking Specific Email Accounts?

Apr 12, 2010

I have my personal Gmail and business email account setup on my iPad.

I also forward all my business account emails directly to my Gmail address. (The good thing about this is that Gmail stores all my emails on their cloud, so I can access it anywhere I go)

Now the only way to reply to an email on my iPad that was sent to my business account, through Gmail, is to create a pop3 version of my business account and switch the "From:" section of the email. So basically, I don't need to check my mail on my business account, its just there so I could use it to reply to emails from my Gmail account.

Is there any way that I can have my iPad NOT check for any mail on my business pop3 account only? I only want my Gmail to be pushed/fetched and not my business account, yet everytime I open the mail.app, it checks for mail on both accounts. (I set the business pop3 account to "manual")

Update Exchange Email Passwords

May 24, 2012

I'm looking for a way to automatiically push an updated network password for Exchange accounts to iPads that we have in the field.

Our current network security requires that passwords be changed at intervals of 45 days. The problem we're running into is that users will update their password on their PC and then later be prompted to change it on the iPad. Ideally, I'd like the updated network password to be pushed directly to the iOS device.

I've tried an MDM platform and was hopeful that this would work. The MDM hooked directly into our Active Directory and allowed users to self-enroll by authenticating against our Active Directory. Unfortunately, when users changed their network passwords on a PC, the change did not cascade down to the iPad. Users will prompted to updated their Exchange account before they could do anything on the device.

Checking Compatibility Of Mouse

Feb 1, 2010

I don't know anything about mouse support in an ipad. Though i have an idea about dock keyboard and bluetooth keyboard support will it support a mouse as well if it docked and you are typing it would be real inconvenient to have to use the touchscreen to click on things.

Checking For Mail Never Returns

Jun 29, 2010

I'm having strange problem with my new iPad. I'm trying to set up email account with yahoo. It seems to verify my email address correctly however my emails never get populated. When I click on mail I just get the circle status bar in lower left corner and it says checking for mail... But nothing ever shows up in list. My settings appear to be correct and my account was successfully verified but still I'm not seeing any of my emails. I have my push settings set to manual and there's a blue on button. What am I doing wrong?

Mail App Not Checking All Accounts

Jun 25, 2010

just got an ipad and finished setting up all the email accounts, however i notice something different from my experiences with iPhone. When I open Mail it only checks the account for new mail that i'm currently in, if I want to check another account I have to go back out and go into the Inbox of the other account. For example, if i'm on Gmail when i open Mail, I will only be able to check new mail in Gmail and not in my other accounts.

Need For Virus Checking Software?

Jul 12, 2010

I am totally new to Apple, just "won" an iPad (happy birthday to me!), and have been spending a few days exploring it. I'm curious about the need for virus checking software? Unable to find any info on the apple website or in the iPad manual. I am a Dell dudette and I feel sort of "naked" without the Norton or McAfee shield! iTunes is also new to me, we went with Microsoft's Zune early on. I have the iPad 16GB WIFI model. Am I missing something? I do like the iPad, but the initial WOW factor I felt during the first few hours has already started to wear off...
