Stop ITunes From Downloading A Video To MacBook?

I purchased a TV show on my ipad 2, now I want to sync the iPad to my MacBook Pro, but I DO NOT want to sync the video FROM the iPad to the MacBook. In other words, I don't want the TV show on both devices, JUST on the iPad. Any sugestions?
Also, does anyone know if I can stop iTunes from trying to download the TV program from iTunes? Every time I open iTunes on the Mac it wants to download the videos. Again I don't want them on the computer.

I have a 128GB MBA & 32GB iPad.
iTunes on my Mac absolutely INSISTS on downloading all the apps I have on my iPad.
I never sync with iTunes. I've been doing everything via the cloud. All I wanted to do is listen to some music I bought & iTunes wants to use up all my available disk space downloading the iPad apps.

Just looking through iTunes and tapped on a title and it downloaded. No check. I have been trawling the net but as usual the problem description does not always get the answers on the same thing. Happening on the mini and air.
Edit. Not worded very well. Whilst looking through the titles I taped a song in no particular way and there were no pass code requests and the song started to download. You can scroll past the song etc but get the touch wrong and it is on its way to the iPad.

my ipad3 keeps downloading old emails as unread, even though I have previously deleted them directly from my googlemail account on the home computer. I have been deleting them one by one, about 60 of them download each time, but this is very time consuming especially as there are over 13,000 emails still waiting to download! I have tried email settings and set this to 50 emails at a time as suggested by another member but this doesn't seem to have any effect.

When I buy or rent a movie from my macbook, I can start watching it almost immediately.When I do the same on the iPad, I have to wait until it finished downloading.Is that correct or am I missing something?I guess that if you have every time to wait to complete the download it is not much of a joy renting movies from the iPad.
