Aug 27, 2014My iphone can send either regular text messgages or imessages by either enabling or disabling the imessage feature. Why can't I do this with my ipad. If I disable my imessage feature on the ipad and then go into the texting app, it still requires me to log into my Apple ID and then it sends the message as an imessage. Not all of the people I want to text have imessage capabiltiy, so this forces me to use my iphone to text them. I see no reason why the ipad can not be just as flexible as the iphone. If I can't have both capabiltiites on the ipad, I'd rather forget imessaging, but I don't know how to "undo" the imessage capability now.

I went to the apple.com website and they have instructions on how to do this... i followed them step by step... and still i am unable to text msg anyone with my ipad2 or send/ recieve imessages.Others sites have mentioned to turn off the Imessages on both devices for couple minutes and turn them on.... and it should work... Did not work for me.
