Scrolling Tip Just Stumbled Across - Screen ?

Apr 6, 2010

if this is old news I apologize. I just noticed that when scrolling webpages you can jump up to the top very quickly by touching the top of the iPad screen. Works great for when I am on the forums.

Screen Distortion While Scrolling

Jun 25, 2010

I bought my iPad today, but I noticed when I'm scrolling up and down, especially in the App Store, the screen seems to distort slightly as I scroll.

To explain what I see, imagine you have a square cloth. As you pull down the left side, the right side doesn't follow straight away, causing a kind of wave effect. That's what I'm seeing on my iPad screen. When I scroll, one side of the screen seems to be like the right side of that piece of cloth.

Does anyone else see this, and is there a fix for it?

iMac - 2007 - MacBook - 2009 - iPhone 3GS - 2009 - iPad 3G 16GB - 2010
Mac OS X (10.6.3)
Boot Camp - Windows XP SP2

Warping Screen While Scrolling Webpages

Oct 24, 2010

Maybe it's just my eyes but as you scroll up and down on your iPad does anyone notice web pages warping a bit as one scrolls? To my eye it's fairly noticeable as the right side of the screen warps or bends upwards and the left side warps downwards. It seems worse on more graphically intensive or image laden web pages than others. Information : Too many to list Mac OS X (10.6.4).

Screen Scrolling Distortion In Portrait Mode

Oct 25, 2010

This one is a little strange, I have had my iPad for two weeks, love it, does loads of cool stuff but in the last two days I have noticed something a little odd.

When scrolling in portrait mode the image seems to distort, especially noticeable with text when reading the paper. It's like pulling a piece of cloth, one side moves slightly faster than the other. This does not happen in landscape mode. It's happening on all applications not just the browser. Anyone else getting this? When I first got it no problem, wondering if it's the touch sensors playing up?

I have done a full wipe and restore, same issue. Booked into apple store on Sunday but I wondered if this is a common problem? Also if someone has had this did they change your iPad or is there a fix?

Information:
Ipad
Other OS

Two-Finger Scrolling Is Really Useful

May 13, 2010

I thought I had figured out everything useful that many may not know on the iPhone and iPad. Apparenly, I was wrong. Have you ever come across something that you couldn't scroll through on a web page? An example would be when you try to look at the full friends list on a Facebook page, standard one-finger scrolling won't work. This is true of any seperate in-page area that would require you to have your cursor in it to scroll through on a computer. I didn't think it was possible to scroll through these in-page areas, and that's annoyed me a few times in the past.Two-finger scrolling will allow you to scroll through in-page scrollable areas. Interestingly, two-finger scrolling has no momentum as standard scrolling does. Hopefully this is as rarely known as I had thought.

Scrolling Within A Window On Safari?

Jun 9, 2010

I have read that you use two finger scrolling and for the life of me I can't get it to work. I have tried multiple websites where scrolling is needed within a window and all I can get it to do is scroll down the entire web page not the widow that needs to scroll down.

Scrolling Back To The First Page

Apr 22, 2010

I know this is probably a stupid question but, am I the only person that always finds himself scrolling back to the first page of apps to use docked items? I noticed that I always do this I must be crazy or something because I even do it with my iPhone too and i had that since the 2g. Lol I guess it must just be like a twitch or something.

Scrolling In Safari - PDF Readesr

Jun 3, 2010

If I scroll horizontally or vertically in Safari the direction of movement remains locked until the screen stops moving or I stop it and then change direction I.e. If I start scrolling horizontally I can just change direction while the screen's moving. My iPad doesn't do this in other apps like PDF readers.

Scrolling Windows In Safari

Nov 21, 2010

I goto college online and it's set up like a forum. Inside the forum, there is a scroller to read all the posts but I can't scroll in it. Instead it scroll the whole page, not just the window on the page. So how can I scroll in that little window instead of the whole page? (this is on my new iPad by the way.) I just got it a few days ago and have tried searching but found nothing. Thanks fir any help.

Scrolling Within Frames In Safari

Nov 18, 2010

Scrolling in frames, using browser base on-line e-mail, Safari web browser, composing in a text window or box.I've notice when at my yahoo e-mail account that I can't scroll in a frame like I could on a regular computer. I know there is the Mail app, but I want to use a browser. And I don't have external application permission for all of my on-line e-mail accounts. And as I cut cost at home, pay for e-mail service days are numbered.Without the ability to scroll, parts of messages are hidden. As well as item list are cut off, as when looking at my "inbox" the message list is truncated. And you can't just simply swipe your finger and bring up those hidden msgs or lines of text.Even while writing in this box, I cannot scroll to see text as it disappears to the out side of it. Luckily I have the compatible keyboard and the arrow-keys will allow me to see the completed message."

Scrolling In Inline Frames

Sep 28, 2010

This was frustrating for me, as I read most of my tech news and follow damn near all the LOL sites in Google's Reader. http://reader.google.com

Well, it uses separate frames for different areas of the site, including the list of feeds and the actual feed.

First thing you have to do for Google Reader to function properly is make sure you have "Desktop" selected as the view. It is a link at the bottom of the page. Otherwise it treats Safari on the iPad as a mobile browser.

Second, when you use 1 finger to scroll, the whole page scrolls, not allowing the frames to move on their own. Use 2 fingers instead. Same motion as one finger.

I borrowed this from:iPad tips and tricks | Mobile Dev Zone
