Did not drop or hit. Turned on and got these rainbow and black stripes on screen. IMG_0006.JPG. (gotta figure out how to upload pic from iPad!!!)
Anyway it is a band of black and collored lines running vertical in landscape and horizontal in portrait about two inches wide. All apps, all the time. Restore no help and touch function works fine across the stripes.
I have an IPAD3-64GB. Lately my screen gets blurry, all display disappears and I get grey and white strips all over the screen. the only way to get things back to normal is to push the power button. is this a software or a hardware issue?

I woke up yesterday, turned on my ipad and noticed a rainbow on the screen. I looked at it from the side and the screen had spiderwebbed like a car windshield does when it gets hit by a rock. I had never dropped it, thrown it, beaten on it or anything dropped onto it. I took it back to Target and they exchanged it no problem, said it should not have done that. I'm a long time friend of the manager and she knows I protect my gadgets so she knew I was telling the truth. They were out of the 16gb wifi only so they let me pay the difference toward a 3g model. I've never seen , or read about, anything by Apple doing this so I have no idea what caused it. Ipad 1, no jailbreak,2 weeks old.

View 24 RepliesI dropped my ipad to the floor (wood) from like 20-30 cm distance, and although i thought it wasnīt a big deal (not to big impact), the screen came black. I restored my ipad (via itunes) and now am not seeing any picture on the screen.. it seems to be working fine as the voice ove is turned on and it speaks, i can hear sounds when i touch the screen and select options and icons, but cannot see anything on it, the screen is just light black-grey. I reset, restore, even try to restore to factory setting, and nothing. When i turn it on, I can see apple logo for like 1 second, follow buy the Ipad image, some times if I am touching the screen on different point i get to see the screnn with the icons displayed, but only for one second..

Each time i restore from recovery mode it works well for 2,3 days then again it starts going off comes back with apple logo n blackscreen. Sometimes it bluishblack reoccurs after a restore and when i manually restart. Does it fall in da category : IOS not starting up as expected?

So my mum had the iPad 2 for 3 years now no problems. Today she went to use it and the screen was black with a white layer that spreads across the screen but before it gets very far flashes and is gone then starts again. She also swears her iPad is heavier than usual and it does feel heavy

I have an ipad 1. While looking at a website in safari I will click to go to another page and, while it's loading, it will give me a black screen and then kick me out and go back to the iPad home screen. It doesn't happen all the time.

I went outdoors with iPad and was shocked and dismayed when I turned it on and could just barely make out images, otherwise the screen was suddenly BLACK! I'd been using it indoors a few minutes prior, and freaked, thinking I'd done something to kill iPad when I put it in its case. I was fumbling around trying to find the place to change the screen setting for brightness when I took off my sunglasses for a moment. AHA! My polarized lens were blacking out the screen. Nothing wrong with the iPad, just a hilarious user error.

My iPad has been working well until last month. All of a sudden the screen just went black.I can see the faint backlight when I press the home button.It makes the "charging noise" when it's plugged in.I know it's working and charged,it's just that the screen show the stuff when I press On button "flash" and goes black again.I have tried resetting and restore from Itunes without success.Is there a fix for this problem or do I need to exchange the ipad? Iīm unable to go to US,can I exchange it at an apple store in another country?
View 3 RepliesWe went to watch them this weekend and the one started and then the screen froze. I clicked Done to take it back out and then I got a black screen with nothing. I shut it all the way down and came back but I still got the same thing. I came back to it a few days later - the screen showed my movies but I chose a movie that I bought. I watched that with no problems. Today my daughter went to watch the other rental I had purchased and the same thing happened. Now when I click on Videos - I get a black screen.
View 5 RepliesI got my Ipad and started the itunes process and it worked fine for 2 hours then the screen got black,i tried almost everything, from on and off, and pressing at the same time the on and home button,i see the little white apple, and then it returns to BLACK, i only see a little light from the screen to notice itīs on When i conect it to the computer it is recognized as if it was ok meanwhile Itīs still black
When I try to hold down the home and sleep buttons simultaneously, the display stays on black, with intermittent flashes of the backlight.
My iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G is only 3.5 months old. It's been working fine until recently. However, as of a few days ago I've noticed that in the middle of using any application the screen suddenly goes black. After I press the home button, the screen returns but the app I was using closes; just as the screen comes back to life after pressing the home button, I see the app I was using before the blackout closing. Like I note above, this does not seem to be specific to any one application.

View 5 RepliesI bought an iPad today 16GB 3G.For first 3 hours it was fine. Then I decide to put it to standby by pressing the top button.Went for dinner. Came back turn it on. All lines graphic. I cant even see the apps but when I slide my fingers I could unlock the device. Tap on the apps(I can see the graphic change). But thats all.
Now the screen is black.Information :iPad Other OS3.2.2.
