I have my iPad 2 with me in Berlin, and bought a prepaid micro-SIM card at a Deutsche Telekom store. The card cost 10 euros, and I gather it includes two days access, and I can add 5 euros per each day of additional access that I want. So far it's working great.
The only thing I'm not clear on is where/how to add this additional time. The staff in the store spoke vastly better English than my German, but this point remained fuzzy, and this is the first time I've bought a SIM card. Is this generally done via a menu on the iPad? Or via a website?
I made a run from central Delaware - thru downtown Wilmington and Philadelphia - up the PA Turnpike for about 100 miles. My Navigon GPS was acting up, so I had my wife turn on Maps.what a pain! Here I was going thru the center of some of the most dense humanity on the Eastcoast and I was either getting No Service or Frickin' E ..the well name EDGE. "The edge always the farthest from you.But it could be the car?! Does your iPad work in a car?
So up until recently I've been able to buy an itunes card instead of credit card. My card was stolen years ago so I no longer add my card. What's the point of having itunes cards when you can't use it? How can I bypass adding a credit card?
Are there any pre-paid cell phone cards that work with the Ipad?I will hardly ever need 3G. Buying another plan doesn't make sense. However, buying a prepaid minutes (or gigabytes), to use now and then makes a lot of sense.Do you have know of any solutions like this?
whats our strategies for international trips? People in Europe reporting successful result with cutdown sims so You should be able to use prepaid sims with data capabilities if you cut it down to micro sim size right? Any idea, reports for international data use without dealing with crazy expensive AT&T international data plan? I'm thinking maybe something like go-sim would work?
Has anyone run out of data, hit the pop up to purchase another block of data, and then still had their plan "renew" at the 30 day expiration of the previous data block despite plenty of time and data left on the new block (and the new block supposedly resetting your "renewal" date)? It happened to me, customer service is a joke. They just keep repeating random babbling words back to me. Eventually after two levels of reps saying "well you made a feature change and that's why you were charged again" and "maybe you processed the payment incorrectly" I got a supervisor that says I must have added the data wrong and she will issue a courtesy refund of the extra $50.On a prepaid iPad plan how exactly do I add it wrong? I run out and it says I've run out and asks if I want to buy more or wait out my month.
I have just been given an iPad for work so I intend to sell my now not required iPad. I have on it some prepaid apps that I would like on the new iPad. Is there a way I can transfer them or reload onto the new iPad without having to pay again?
As the iTunes Store is not available in India, I am planning to set up an iTunes account of another country for downloading useful apps into my iPad 2. But, I don’t want to enter the credit card information while creating the account as I prefer only free apps. Is it possible to set the information as ‘None’ in iTunes?
I was trying to download the new IOS5 onto my iPad but it said I should put things in my library or I will lose them? I did a sync for my books, etc but it said nothing about syncing your prepaid games? will I lose them in the download?
When I went to create my Verizon prepaid Account through the cellular data settings screen, the service failed to activate and gave system errors and activation errors. When I called Verizon, they said that my sim was dead and I should go to a Verizon store to have it replaced. Unfortunately, when I went there, my only option was to get a new sim card activated on a normal Verizon account rather than prepaid...
Now, I'm happy to have service, and it's still month to month with no activation, but I am not able to get the $20 plan. A little disappointed, but not enough to switch to AT&T.
Is it necessary to sync with iTunes before a new SIM card works in an iPad? I'm just thinking about what to do if I got a SIM card while abroad for roaming and obviously wouldn't have a computer to sync with.
Just picked up an ipad 2 3G+wifi... I don't have the sim card yet and was wondering if it is possible to activate the ipad 2 without the sim card. I tried plugging it in to the computer and using Itunes but it doesn't seem to let me activate so i can start syncing my music/contacts/apps etc.
An interesting article in MacWorld about how a person can setup and use an iPad account in iTunes without requiring a credit card. Essentially when setting up the account, it asks for payment method, you select none. As long as the apps are free, you are OK. If you want to buy an app, you will then be required to enter a credit card. However, there is a workaround to that. You can have a monthly or as needed account using the iTunes on-line gift card setup. This would be handy for a child to buy apps without using your credit card. Or you can buy the gift card at any retail store.
I can no longer download apps to my iPad due to an endless loop asking me to enter a valid credit card. This happens in iTunes and in the iPad's app store. The credit cards I've used to purchase apps have $25,000+ limits and just worked two days ago in iTunes. I've used them just today for other minor purchases elsewhere. I have tried 6 different credit cards with $20,000+ limits, with the correct addresses, security codes, and everything perfect. None are working now. Itunes loops and keeps saying "Your credit card was declined. This happens also when I try to set it up with two different VALID Paypal accounts.I can't even download FREE apps now! What gives? I'm on the latest version of iTunes.
