I got a lovely new IPad Air 2 as a birthday present over the weekend. I set it up and used the same passcode as my Iphone 6+ then later in the day I tried to unlock it with my passcode and it failed! My fingerprint can unlock the device but I cant reset the passcode or power off the device as it will ask for my passcode. So far its showing 3 failed attempts in settings yet I know I am correct as I was very careful setting it up?
Does anyone know how to reset the passcode when you are no longer abe to access the IPAD. I have forgotten it and when I go to sync it with Itunes it wont allow me to do this unless I have the passcode which I have totally forgotten.
My iPad 4 has stopped working.  It froze suddenly as I dragged a file to my home screen and it appears the home screen was full, not sure if that's the reason but the entire touch screen became unresponsive.
So first thing I tried was to do a hard reset, held the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time, waited for 10 seconds or so, the device restarted I saw the apple logo, then the date/time and the Slide To Unlock, everything LOOKS normal, I tried sliding across it and it was not responsive.  I cannot even get to the passcode screen.
I was then advised to do a Restore from ITune, so I connected the iPad to my computer and downloaded the latest iTune to my computer, then initiated the restore...it started to perform the restore and an hour later an error message on my computer popped up saying "ITune could not connect to the iPad because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes."
I would love to enter the passcode but I can't because I can't get past the unresponsive Slide To Unlock, that is the reason I needed to restore in the first place, so what are my options?
I have tried the hardware reset/restart.  I called Apple support and the advice was to do a restore.  I attempted a restore and it requires the iPad to be unlocked, but I cannot get to the passcode screen due to the unresponsive Slide To Unlock.
We laid off an employee but don't have his passcode to reset the ipad to it's factory settings. Is there anyway I can do this?† I tried following the directions I found:
If you dont know the passcode to go into the ipad and reset it, you simply need to connect the iPad to iTunes.
Connect your iPad to the USB port on your computer, open iTunes and on the left side of the panel will appear a category for Devices... select the iPad. The summary window will have the information on the iPad and below that the choice for Restore. Select Restore, and you will have to do some confirming usually, and the system will go to work restoring the iPad to the factory settings.
My ipad will not turn on. When connect to itunes message on laptop reads "unable to open ipad, Ipad contains passcode must do passcode, but my ipad cannot open. How can I reset ipad when not responding. Tried resetting but only flash and then turns off
I was given a iPad 2 with the Verizon option. It had been dropped and the screen was broken (glass and would not recognize touch). Replaced the glass and touch works now but the on off switch quit working. Checked the on off cable and all looks good. And also the passcode screen doesn't appear anymore. All it says is ipad locked and connect to iTunes. Well I did but it's not giving me the option to factory wipe it. Is there a way to short the battery to reset it? At this point it is useless. I have the digitizer and lcd off again and rechecking all cables.
I've tried downloading and installing IOS 4.2 trough ITunes to my IPad Wifi 3G 64 GB, but it always failed. Could someone tell me how to do it? The error message said that it took too long to download IOS 4.2 (12 Minutes) and the server has denied the action.

I bought the iPad from Apple store in USA, took it with me to Israel as apresent to my wife. I did not open or activate it when iI was in USA.†I turned it on here and tried to activate it over the Wi Fi, †I got a message that the server is not available and I should try later or try to activate it using iTunes, after 24 hour without any results, I have connected the iPad to the iMac and tried to activate it using the iTunes.†At first the iTunes recognized the iPad and ask me to Restore it before I can use it. It went on and downloaded the restore updates, after its completion I stared the restore process.iTunes extracted the software downloaded and began the restore.
I got this message "restoring iPad firmware"† The iPad was turned off and started restoration, but when the iPad activation bar in the iPad was at about 70% I get a message
"the iPad could not be restored. An unkown error occurred (1)."†I have looked at the support site and did all this:I have updated my iMac and the iTunes, have no other USB connected, no security software active. My iMac is updated to 10.7.4iTune version is 10.6.1. (7)†I have disconnected the iPad from the iMac and wanted to try again with the Wi-Fi but this option seems now not available, as the iPad keeps showing the iTunes connection.†What do I do now since activation now with Wi Fi is not not
Today I plugged my iPad to friend's Mac to charge a battery and coincidentally discovered big security problem. Automatically iPhoto has popped up showing all the photos available on my iPad, without asking for a passcode, which I always been assuming it will ask when connecting iPad to a PC or Mac. More than that: iTunes has allowed me to browse through the documents stored within the apps i.e.: DocToGo and copy it on friend's without single authorization. In comparison to RIM's Blackberry always asks for a password when try to connect to any device.†
Unless resolved, I am seriously considering to stop using iPad for work because of security issue described above. make every Mac/PC with iTunes/iPhoto and other similar applications.
On two separate occasions I tried to downloaded a purchaed movie from ITunes on my IPAD.† Both times it failed 3/4 of the way through and will not continue.† It continues to say "Downloaded Failed".†I then downloaded the movies to a PC and then moved them to my IPAD using ITunes.†All that is fine and good - at least I have my movies I can watch on the plane ... but how do I remove the failed downloads in my ITunes?† †
I've been having trouble with wi-fi not connecting. Turned my ipad off and on again. When it came back on I get the needs to sync with itunes screen. Itunes can't connect because I have a passcode on the ipad to lock it.
This may seem stupid, but how do I get to the screen to enter my passcode to unlock the ipad?
My ipad returned from the repair centre, I plugged it in to return everything saved from my computer and my itunes now tells me I have nothing, music, apps and games are none existant. All tunes bought are not even in itunes let alone the ipad backup. Is there any way to get to the items I purchased without trying to memorise or browse through the poor version of the ipads app store?
After trying to repower the Ipad it brought up the first screen of the cable to itunes. I connected the iPad to itunes to which it tells me it can't connect because of the passcode. Well since it is at the initial screen it won't let me enter the passcode??
I just bought a 64GB iPad in France on my journey. In Denmark we haven't got it yet, so there's no support for me yet...
In the french store they let me connect to iTunes on one of their Macs, so I could enter my new iPad. Then I played with it the rest of the day (didn't sync with my MacBook, cause it is being fixed) and also put in a pascode as I do with all my devices.
Next morning when I turned it on, it only showed the "connect to iTunes" symbol again, as if it was new. And when I connect to iTunes, iTunes only says "iTunes could not connect to the iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your pascode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes"...
And that is a contradiction! I can't do what the iPad says and i can't do what iTunes says...
Any ideas? Any ways to reset it other than by holding down both buttons at a time, because I have tried that already.
I just bought an ipad today. At my office, I connected it to itunes just to register it. Then played with it for a while. Downloaded some apps, etc. I also put a passcode on it. Now I get home and turn it on, and it's asking me to connect to itunes again as if it were brand new? And whats worse is that itunes on my iMAC won't open it because there is a passcode on it. The problem is that I can't get to the screen to enter the passcode because it immediately asks to connect to itunes. I tried resetting by holding down sleep/wake + home, and that did not resolve it.
ios 5 seemed to install on iPad 2 fine, but now when I go to restore from the backup I did before the upgrade, I get this message: "itunes could not restore the ipad because the backup session failed".
I set a passcode and I use the feature that only requires the passcode after a certain period of idle time. Most of the time thats what I want. But, sometimes I just want to lock it up immediately. So, is there a way to easily override the passcode delay and cause the device to immediately lock and required a passcode?
