Just recently purchased my Ipad... for the past two mornings when I went to turn on my I-page, which was charged the evening before, the battery was completely dead. Am I not turning off a correct on/off switch? the one at the top right of the I-Pad viewing it vertical?
Is It Possible To Switch Off The Auto-correct But Keep The Spell Checker?
Sep 11, 2010
I generally find the iPad's auto-correct feature counter-productive - it usually picks am unwanted word, which then needs to be retyped - but obviously being able to spell check emails is very useful. However the two features seem to go hand in hand; is it possible to switch off the auto-correct feature, without losing the ability to do spell checking?
Modification In Latest Patch For Rotate Lock Switch To Mute Switch
Nov 24, 2010
I have not idea why apple changed the switch function. It is very annoying if you are moving around with the unit and watching as the screen flops around. I think 99% of the users do not place an iPad in a fixed position when operating it, we tend in lay it down or sit and relax while using the unit. anow we have to ensure that we keep the unit in a fixed position when using it or face the flip flopping effect. For the love of god put the option to use the lock of the sceen over the silly mute button. I think we can hit the up/down keys to adjust the volume like big kids.
The iPad seems to think that I probably mean ID when I type those two letters, I always mean it to correct to I'd, half the time when I type the letters ive it corrects to I've, the other half of the time it changes it to vie. Does anyone know of a way to set up conditional corrections? Any other suggestions for specifying the default guess for the same "error"?
When I signed up for cellular data service, I mis-typed my email address. Called AT&T, and they corrected the email address, but my iPad still wants to use the wrong one. It will not let me use the correct the email address--always reverts to the bad one--so I cannot view my account.
I have both my iPad & iPhone set to sync TV Shows with the following setting: "Automatically include the 5 oldest unwatched episodes of all shows" When I have shows that are marked as watched they do not sync to the iPhone 4 (which is correct) but they continue to sync to my iPad. I cannot seem to keep them from sync'ing to the iPad. I don't want to manually control it on the iPad as I'd like to just keep sync'ing the episodes I've not watched yet (as I've done for ages on my iPhone).
I have an Exchange account which syncs with iCal, as well as several other calendars. All the colours - including the Exchange account - sync exactly right between my MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS, and all the colours sync correctly between the laptop and iPad - except my Exchange cal for some reason. Just on the iPad. My Exchange cla is now the same colour as a different work calendar.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I jump in and out of this App all the time for work and keep adding things to the wrong work calendar.
I'm, new to Apple ( if you exclude my itouch, ipods, and a couple of disastrous outings with an iphone!) but....
How do I get the correct format video's onto my ipad? I know Apple uses mpeg4 - but some of the existing movies on my pc will sync and some wont- these are movies I have added to my itunes , and then tried to sync.
Also is there any app that will allow me to play my .mkv HD movies or even at a pinch my .avi ?
As you may have read my iPad totally died on me the other day. Only after a few minutes plugged into the mains did it come back to life and even then I didn't expect it to.
What I noticed later that day was that the battery was at 70% and when I plugged it into my laptop it suddenly jumped to 100% - clearly that isn't possible.
So I figured I'd restore the iPad. And I did. Then at the end of yesterday the battery was again at around the same usage and plugged in and it said it was fully charged! Again not possible.
So my question is - has anyone else had similar things happen with their iPhones or iPad?
And what's up with my battery? I'm in the UK so I can't get the iPad swapped out under warranty until the end of May... Will my ipad last that long?
A 50% battery will still last me long enough that I can happily use the iPad and will keep me I'm good shape for it to be swapped when it is out in the UK but I don't have battery knowledge so I'd appreciate any feedback!
Have Ipad 2 with wifi. on my home network i keep getting an ip address of 169.254.231.36 since yesterday, after i upgraded to the latest OS. every time i call support, after being on hold, when they pickup the phone they hang up, all except one time when i was told to check with my it person and if i needed to, call back...tried the call back service, pickup the phone and the recording : since you are not answering we will try again (i was answering)... and this is the paid support service. i have the external verizon modem and that connected right away....
Ever since I upgraded to 4.2 my iPad has started auto-correcting my email address to unloaded at me dot Com which is not correct at all... Every time I try to log in or sign up anywhere it does it so if I am going to quickly I don't even notice it until it's too late... It never did this in 3.2 and does not do it on my iPhone which is 4.1. Has anybody else noticed this and more importantly does anybody know of a fix?
I keep getting 2 emails for what should be 1 email in my posts, I think that it's something to do with my MobileMe - does anyone know the correct settings I should have on my iPad to stop this happening? I've stopped this happening on my iPhone by unchecking email boxes in iTunes, is there a way to stop this on my iPad?Mac OS X (10.5.6)
My iPad won't keep the proper time/day. It gets stuck on the time it goes to sleep if I don't use it for awhile. Right now it's 11:18 pm and my iPad thinks it's 9:27 pm; the last time it went to sleep. What's the fix?
Is this stupidity limited to 4.2.1, or was it always present. I want to enable spell check but to disable autocorrect. The system does not allow this, as when I enavle spell check, then disable autocorrect, spell ckeck then gets set to off! This is retarted and absurd. Spell check by itself should simple put a red underline on a word that spellcheck does not like. When the user taps on the word, suggestions should be available. I can't stand when programs or devices think that they are smarter than I am.
