Mute Switch Does Not Work?

Since the upgrade to 4.3 mute switch stopped working. Just upgraded to 4.3.2 and it still does not work. I use radio apps "iDeRadio" "The Radio" "Antyradio" to listent to internet stations. When I move the side switch I can see the icon of the crossed speaker but the sound still goes out. Is it only problem with my unit or a general problem? It annoys me very much as I have to keep pressing the volume down button to get quickly mute my iPad.

I updated my iPad to 4.2.1 (8C148) earlier this week and a strange thing has happenedThe new mute switch does not work When I switch it I get the icon display on the screen saying mute (well a speaker with a line through it) but the sound stays on. I can bring the volume down using the rockerAnyone else have this problem or a suggestion on how to fix it?

They went through all the trouble of letting us pick between a mute switch and orientation lock, but the mute option still doesn't work. It shows the mute icon but it doesn't have any effect on the sound.
It's not a big deal to me because I use the orientation lock, but it's kinda funny that they still haven't figured out how to fix this problem.

I have not idea why apple changed the switch function. It is very annoying if you are moving around with the unit and watching as the screen flops around. I think 99% of the users do not place an iPad in a fixed position when operating it, we tend in lay it down or sit and relax while using the unit. anow we have to ensure that we keep the unit in a fixed position when using it or face the flip flopping effect. For the love of god put the option to use the lock of the sceen over the silly mute button. I think we can hit the up/down keys to adjust the volume like big kids.

4.2.1 Mute Switch Doesn't Mute

Subject pretty much covers it. After upgrade to 4.2.1, the hardware switch that used to lock the screen is now broken.Switching to the up position shows a speaker and the current volume.Switching to the down position shows a speaker with a slash through it.Neither position affects the volume of what's currently playing.

I hate the new feature of iOS 4.2 where the normal screen rotation switch has been switched to a mute switch. This seems ridiculous. Is there anyway to reverse this with out downgrading the OS? And does anyone think that Apple will change it in a later software version?

Can't Rotate To Vertical - Lock Switch Set To Mute

I can rotate 180 to either horizonal orientation, but can't get it to stay at either vertical orientation. Just started happening. I've rebooted, it behaves for a short time, then reverts to this behavior.

I only discovered now that if I turn the iPad volume down to zero, this only applies to sound coming from media players being silenced. I still get various notification sounds. how can you temporarily mute an iPad (running iOS 6.1), in case the side switch is set to turn off rotation (instead of the default mute)?

I know this is odd, but then I'm just wondering if anyone else is having this situation. When you are streaming video but then you have a phone call and use your side switch to attempt to put your iPad on mute, but then it doesn't....is this normal? I'm just wondering as my side switch is set to put it on mute incase of situations like that. The 'no sound' logo does appear, but the sound is still playing for video. Just wondering if it is bc of a JB as well...

Mute Button Does Not Work

My mute button does not work - if I slide it, the mute icon appears, but the sound goes right on playing. This so with all the apps I've tried it with. Yes, it's the latest OS, 4.2.1
Funny thing is that I'm pretty sure that it did work when I first got the iPad about ten days ago. But it doesn't now. It's no biggie, since the volume zooms right down if you hold it, but it should work.
Any suggestions as to why this should occur? There's nothing in the settings that I can find. Or is the button just dead, and I should contact Apple?
