View 5 RepliesThe ONLY thing holding me back from getting an ipad is the question of how I can use it to backup photos on vacation.
So the question to anyone who has one, is there a way (and how) to backup SD or Compact Flash cards from cameras onto the Ipad?
or if not directly to the 64GB memory, can you use it to backup to your online apple idisk storage somehow? or other online storage places etc?
I have an iPad mini & used it yesterday to photograph my hours-old grandson, thinking I could transfer photos to a data card & then to my desktop. (I have the card reader for mini.)
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a way to do so...
I live in the boonies and am on a data plan, so emailing them to myself is not an option. Using any other 'airborne' method is likewise a non-started due to my location & data plan.
So, is there a way to move a camera roll to a data card...or do I have to go to plan B...whenever I figure out if there is one...
I want to restore backup from icloud to my ipad after i restore it, but i cannot enter the correct backup password for my ipad(high chance that i forgot it). what should i do? i need my photos back

Does anybody knows how to transfer photos from a CF card to an ipad2, if I use a card reader, I see a message saying that the reader recquires too much power. I red in french forum that you solve the problem connecting the Reader through a "Y" usb cable with the power cable (of the usb cable) to the alimentation of the ipad. Do you think that this might be dangerous for the ipad?

View 4 RepliesI'm upgrading my iPhone to a 5s but only a 16Gb. All my iTunes contents are synced to an external hard disk ( i.e. every time i sync my tunes i have to have my external hard disk connected)
I would like to find out , how do i transfer all my photos/videos taken on my iPhone 5s to my iPad mini? Without keeping them in the iPhone, therefore freeing up some space on the iPhone. I have a 124gb iPad so that's plenty of space to keep photos.
Do i buy a special cable for it? or use photo stream/icloud? But if i use photo stream/icloud. i still have the photos on my iPhone and therefore defeating the purpose of freeing up space on iPhone ...
My problem is this: I am travelling throughout Asia with my ipad2 and using it to store photos. Recently my camera started playing up and the photos stored on the ipad are the only backup i have. I want to back them up. I have the camera kit so can connect USB and SD, however I was looking to use an online backup service like Carbonite or Sugarsynch. I've found out that they can only back up one photo at a time if at all.
How else can i back up the photos currently on my ipad? As additional information, i do have remote access through Teamviewer, to my laptop back in the US. I've tried to remote to thea laptop, thean remote back to the ipad in order to pull picture files off but couldn't seem to get it to work....thought it was a longshot anyway. So, how do youbackup photos without a computer to synch with?
Looking at the included picture, it seems one could carefully use an exacto knife to trim down their iPhone's sim card to the iPad's micro sim size. You would save the cut piece for joining the two again to put in the tray and back into the iPhone. The actual chip is in the correct place.Original sim cards were the size of credit cards. The one in an iPhone is a "mini sim". The one in the iPad is a "micro sim".
Of course this doesn't mean it will work - but it's worth a try by a brave soul. Apple may have written the software to prevent this and ATT may have a way for their network to reject it. But I fully expect the dev team to tackle that in the jailbreak version.

View 6 RepliesI had a MacBook and used iPhoto for my pictures. I used mozy and backed up all my files to their service. I recently spilled water on my computer (sad!) and it fried. I don't use the computer for much of what I originally did so I decided to replace with an iPad mini. So my question is there a way to get my original iPhoto library on to my mini in the iPhoto app without a computer?

I suspect some are in iCloud. Is it possible to see whats in iCloud backup?
A friend of mine recently developed a fault with the screen on his iPad mini resulting in Apple replacing the iPad mini with a new one. Before they did this I advised him to backup his iPad so that in this event he would be able to restore his apps/settings etc to the way it was. A full backup was done the night before the iPad was taken into Apple and replaced.
When the new iPad was plugged in and restored from the most recent back up (which is the one taken the night before the iPad was replaced) it hasn't restored anything from the old iPad - no music/apps or photos but seems to have restored some things from his old iPhone. Not sure whether this makes a difference but the old iPad was iOS6 and the new one is running iOS7 - I wouldn't have thought this would make a difference but Unsure why else the new iPad isn't restoring correctly?
I had my iPad wiped while on vacation because the wrong access code was entered too many times. (lesson #1: unpair bluetooth keyboard from iPad before throwing them in a bag). So my only option was to wipe everything and restore as new. Now being back home, I wanted to restore from the backup I had made on iTunes just before I left. Unfortunately, I did not check the "Prevent iPods etc from syncing automatically" in iTunes prior to plugging my iPad (lesson #2), so iTunes did a backup before I could realize what was happening. So now, I have only one backup available: the one just made, which is useless.
I do regular backups of my mac with Time Machine, so I'm hoping there's a way to get the older backup by accessing the files on TM.

My daughter dropped her iPad Mini and we had to get it replace with a new one. The day before we got the new Ipad Mini I backed her iPad with the cracked screen and dented case and made sure the file was in the mobilesync->backup folder. The next day when I picked up the new iPad Mini I tried to restore it and iTunes only listed the backup for my iPhone. I looked and the 4.6 GB file was still in the backup folder. I ran Dr. Fone data recover software and everything is still in the backup but I restore from it.
I also reloaded all her old apps onto the new iPad backed up the new iPad then copied the old backup on to my desktop and copied all of the files (there were no plist files) from the old 4.6GB back up and replaced the new iPad back up files with the copied ones and tried to restore from that. I though it was working cause it took about 20 minutes to restore but then I got the "backup corrupted or not compatible" pop up.
How i can get the old backup to work on the new iPad. I know its silly because she is a kid but she will be torn up if she loses all of her minecraft files.

I had my ipad mini replaced today. I installed iOS 7.02 on the new ipad mini and I selected the latest local backup (from my old mini) from Restore Backup. It completes this process. it seems like some of my settings are on the ipad mini now and there's one non-stock app that is present on my dock but it's not fully downloaded. My ipad shows 12GB free. When I click on the ipad in iTunes it appears the usage bar is from my old backup showing only a few GBs free. When I click sync it goes through 6 steps. on the 6th step it starts to transfer files but almost immediately stops. I don't get any indication file transfer failed and there's no new files or apps on my mini.
