IPad Air :: Audio To Mac Via USB

I would like to connect my iPad Air Lightning Output to my Mac Pro via the Mac Pro USB for input of audio from the iPad to the Mac Pro. My Mac is connected to my audio equipment via analog audio out and the TOS connector. I would like to connect the iPad Air to my Mac because these audio connectors are hidden behind my workstation and I already use the MacPro USB port for power/charging the iPad Air. Connecting the headphone out of the iPad to another interface in order to get to my amp is simply another cable that I don't need or want. Less cables are always better IMHO.

Audio Output - An External Audio System Using A 3.5 Stereo

I'm trying to connect my iPad to an external audio system using a 3.5 stereo mini jack. I can't find a mini jack that will fit the audio-out port. They all seem to have a little shoulder that prevents the jack from inserting all the way and thus prevents seating with a "click".....like you get from the Apple and Bose ear buds. Does anyone know of a mini jack that works with the iPad?

how audio is output from the iPad. This is also the case for the iPhone and iPods.When you play music on these devices they are digital for us to hear them they have to be converted to sound waves which are analogue. When we plug a set of headphones into the headphone socket you can here the music and adjust the volume because the iPad has a DAC ( Digital to Analogue Convertor) and an amplifier. Because of limits in space and price the in built DAC and amp are not the best, they are very good and for most of use they are more than adequate to listen to music through.
The other way to get music out of an iPad is through the 30 pin dock connector. The advantage with this that the music steeam is digital, no DAC or amp involved. We the listeners can then decide how we want to process the music so we can hear it. We still need to use a DAC and amp but we can decide the quality and price we are willing to pay.So what is the best way to connect an iPad to an audio system/We can use the headphone socket on the iPad and with the appropriate cable connect it to our audio system. The sound will be very good and acceptable for most people. The quality of the music is limited by the iPad DAC and amp as well as the audio system. This is also the cheapest method
We can use a dock connector which has an audio output (the apple dock connector does this) we can then connect this to our audio system. The quality of the music is now limited by the dock connector and the audio system. This is more expensive and is only limited by how deep your pockets are.

One other thing to remember is the quality of the orginal music, what rate it was origionaly sampled at, the higher the better and has it been compressed (loss in quality) to make the music file smaller. High sample rates and no compression mean best quailty but bigger music files. Low sample rates and lots of compression, low quality and lower music files.

I've been having problems with audio since I jacked in my pc speakers into my iPad. Generally if I open YouTube or iPod and few games I'll get audio but other apps specifically Hgtv I wouldn't get audio and the audio controls would not be available and most of the games. Like basic functions like typing, or even when closing the screen with the power button I wouldn't get audio. And just recently I've realized that the slide your finger feature at the top left hand corner (where you'll get wifi, airplane mode, etc) isn't available also.

IPad 3 24 Bit Audio Capabilities?

Part of the reason I bought it was it's upcoming music creation capabilities. So here's my question. On most audio interfaces they specify a bit depth and sample rate it's capable of and for all my desktop interfaces I have no issues finding the information. I have been tempted to buy a DAW for my ipad and was looking at the Alesis IODock and the Behringer iStudio (which isn't out quite yet). Both seem to be solid but I have looked everywhere for an answer to what they're recording bit depth and sample rates are. I've even contacted Alesis but they aren't responding to the question. Since I'm working in 24 bit in ableton live 8 on my desktop there's no reason for me to get these items if they can't handle the 24 bit 48 sample. Who knows maybe I'm asking a stupid question but I just can't find the answer. Is the iPad itself a device that is capable of the 24/48 recording and playback quality. That's the only reason I can think of that these stats wouldn't be displayed somewhere. Along with this I'll be picking up Auria app which is a software capable of 24bit/96 sample (as soon as that comes out).

Since it might be soon I can pre-order for Canada I have a question some of you current owners might be able to answer. I want to use my iPad to take in our RV with us, to watch Movies and Tv Shows from our iTunes while we are on the road.
I am assuming that with each synch it will keep track of what episodes have been watched, like my Apple TV's do? But more important is the audio for TV shows or Movies.
While running on battery and with nothing to plug an iPad in to, how is the audio quality on the speaker for two people to watch a TV show with? Would it be possible to plug two sets of headphones into it? Is there a headphone jack? Any answers are appreciated - thanks in advance!
