IPad 3 :: Totally Unresponsive / Battery Drained - No Apps Running In Background

Nov 23, 2013

Really weird thing happened last night. I went to bed leaving my iPad downstairs, it had 52% battery left. The iPad has the cover that turns it off on closing so I don't leave anything running. I'm also pretty keen about switching off any apps running in the background and running the battery to 10% in order to do a full charge at least once a month.Anyway, when I went to check for emails this morning, the iPad was totally unresponsive. Absolutely no battery charge at all, totally run down. I immediately thought I had a major problem but the iPad has charged up nicely to 100% so I am waiting to see how the battery consumption fares over the next 24 hours.

IOS 5.1.1 - Right Side Of IPad 1 Screen Became Totally Unresponsive

May 15, 2012

I have both an iPhone 3GS and iPad 1, I upgraded them both through the 'settings' menu on the phone, which to me, is a great idea... When it works properly. Anyhow, straight after update, I had this problem: [URL]. However, now the right side of my iPad screen has become totally unresponsive.

So I've tried hard resets, restores (Redownloaded iOS 5.1.1 through iTunes), nothing is working. So now I can't even setup the iPad, since the 'Next' button doesn't recognize me touching it, and sadly you can't turn rotate the screen to use a part of the screen that is working on the setup menu. How to manually sort this.

When I double press the Home button on my iPad 2, a row of app icons appear at the bottom of the screen showing all the apps running in the background. Is it important to manually shut them down one by one if not using them? Does it eat up more battery juice if I leave them running?

Turning Off Apps Running In The Background?

May 1, 2011

Am I the only one that had no clue there was a way to turn off Apps running in the background while leaving the iPad on? I thought I heard before to reboot to close all running Apps and reset the device. Well after I did that, I noticed that all of the Apps were still running, as verified through multi finger gestures.

So now at this point, I'm pretty much thinking there was no way to actually turn off these Apps without some extreme measure. So after googling and finding www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r3T8TyyiTE, I saw that all I had to do was bring up the multitasking bar and start deleting. That's it, just that easy!

Do You Leave Apps Running In Background

Apr 8, 2012

On my jailbroken iphone 4 i always remove all apps in the background, cause is so easy , but with the ipad & no jailbreak i just leave them there, im too lazy to remove them one by one.I know it probably doesn't diminish performance of the ipad 2 or 3 if you have 20 apps in the background, i just dont like leaving apps running in the background when im not using them (OCD ?)

Close Apps Running In Background

Feb 18, 2011

Learned the procedure of closing apps thats running in the background hogging memory,it not only freed up memory it also made my iPad run much faster, unknown to me I had 7 apps running, this procedure is not in the owners guide.

If you experience your iPad running a bit slow you probably have a ton of applications running in the background. The iPad's memory is limited, so in order to avoid performance issues you can close background applications by following the steps below. To close background applications press the Home button twice and when the recently used apps bar appears, tap and hold down the app you wish to close. You will notice that after a second or two of holding down the icon, all the icons in the recently used apps bar will begin to move from side to side. You will also notice that a small red circle with a minus sign will appear on the top-left corner of the icon. Tap the red circle to close the background applications. Once you've closed several applications tap on the Home button again and you will return to the Home Screen or App you were using. Your iPad should feel a little snappier.

Apps Running In Background Often Restarts When Opened

Jan 27, 2012

Don't know if anybody has encountered this problem on iPad2 but I've found out that if the application is first closed and then opened after some time running on background it gets restarted as if it is opened for the first time. I can see it especially with safari - if I reopen it after some time all tabs are reloaded even if I can see previous content rendered for a second or two - but then reloads. This is really frustrating . Similar issue I have with other application such skype (but this is maybe another problem) or iPF application - it starts reload and land on homepage even if I was in another thread before. It behaves as it starts from the scratch.

Manage Apps So They Don't Continue Running In Background?

Mar 1, 2011

Is there a way to manage apps so they don't continue running in the back ground? I know on my android phone, I'm able to do this to maintain decent battery life. So far in my iPad settings, I have the fetch data (push) to off and location services turned off as well. Is there a proper way of closing apps? I typically just use the home button to end the app.

Multi-tasking Solution - Apps Running In The Background

Feb 9, 2010

We all realize that multi-tasking is not as simple as putting as putting it into the device. There are problems with managing the open apps, how to switch between them, and the large potential to forget about apps running in the background and being a drain on battery life.I've seen people throwing ideas of 3-finger gestures to switch apps, cumbersome docks, etc. But I haven't seen a real solution that fits with Apple's "keep it simple and intuitive" philosophy; where even a child can understand interface. So I had some thinking and came up with a possible suggestion on at least the interface side of things:
