IPad 3 :: Screen With Tiny Spots - White Noise Across Whole Display

Jan 27, 2014

All of a sudden, my Ipad 3 screen has turned all speckly, it's like white noise across the whole screen, only it's made up of lots of colours (mainly black and white) and the spots are tiny. There is also a white band running from left to right around the area where the swipe bar normally appears and is about 1.5 inches wide. It's looked after pretty well and hasn't been dropped.

I can't see anything on the screen other than what I have described. My Ipad is passcoded, so can't connect to itunes. It is running ios5.

Odd Spots That Appear Like Chips In The Screen?

Jul 29, 2010

Every so often while cleaning my ipad I notice these odd spots that appear like chips in the screen, but I can easily get rid of them using my fingernail very very lightly, and was wondering are these really chips in the screen? would I be able to get rid of them this way if they were?

I Have Some Lighter Spots On Screen?

Aug 6, 2010

My iPad is maybe 3 months old. I have 2 small areas at the bottom, and a small spot near the middle of the screen that are lighter than the surrounding areas.

Is this something I could bring this to an Apple store to see if it might be covered under warranty?

Tried to take a couple cell photos....they are far easier to see in person:

Bad Result Of Screen - Light Leakage In Spots?

Jun 22, 2010

I had a fantastic screen on my 64gb Wi-Fi, which I just sold to a member of the board, it was perfect, no light leakage, no dead pixels. I replaced it with a 64gb 3g and now when I'm watching a video in the dark I notice light leakage in spots, patches of brighter areas, it's not terrible but noticible. It looks ok in bright rooms, which leads me to believe if I brought it back to the apple store they will say they see nothing as its mega bright in there. Still for close to a grand I think what I saw on my earlier unit should be what I get here, Or do I risk getting a screen with possible more problems. I did buy Applecare...

Bad Screen Bleed Just A Few Small Spots Up Bright

Mar 26, 2011

Well just had my iPAD a few hours no realy bad screen bleed just a few small spots up up bright. Now the intresting part if you hold the device in landscape mode and gently twist the device not to cause any damage the spots of bleed will DISAPEAR or show up in another place!

This is my video of me flexing the device:[URL]

Now I think this is referd presure on the LCD panel from using to much glue and the device being less ridged as it flexes!

Apples mistake here if you look at IFIXIT they mounted the bezel of the LCD Panel with glue to the Digitiser so any referrd presure when stuck to the back plate pushes on the display!

BASICALLY like takeing your finger on a naked lcd screen and pressing the panel around its edge you will see the backlight and make it go funny!

I think all the LCD panels apple have are fine, just that its thin construction and the way its been mounted is putting pressure on the display itself.

If i was apple id replace the glue around the LCD panel with a thiner material or leave it in freespace stuck into the device from the back!

Anyway anyone brave enough to twist your ipad a little (it does flex a little) will see the bleed disapear, or show up in diferent places.

IPad 3 :: Dead Pixels On Screen

Mar 17, 2012

Just got a replacement 64gb 4G arranged through Apple. After setting it all up last night, I noticed at least 3 dead pixels on my screen.Only noticed them due to being in Sketchbook, where the screen is bright white.thought at first they were just dust and tried to wipe it off, no deal, definately pixels.

Admittedly, they are very small and you have to look for them, however, now that I know they're there, my eyes just keep going to them.I was a bit worried that this would affect my resale value and so took steps to get a replacement. In fairness, Apple were brilliant and apologetic, replacement organised without any issues.

Dead Stuck Pixel On IPad 2 Screen

Apr 24, 2011

I have found a dead/stuck pixel on my iPad 2 screen and not sure what I should do about it. The problem is, this is my fourth unit due to light bleed issues and the other 3 replacements I have had have also had scratching on the back, straight out of the box. The unit I have now is the best one I have had - less light bleed issues and a flawless backing. Only issue now is that I have found this dead pixel. It is really obvious and really annoying but I don't know whether to take it back because of all the trouble I've already had with the previous units.

Certain Area On The Screen Is Dead To Touch?

Jul 16, 2010

I'm having a problem with the screen sensitivity on my iPad. There seems to be a certain area on the screen that is dead to the touch. When I try to file up or down in that area it won't work. But if I move over a bit, my touch is then recognized. Sometimes the screen recognizes a down movement but not an up movement. I've checked to make sure the screen is clean and have done a hard reset, which doesn't seem to help. But in writing this, I've found no dead spots. It only seems to be fileing up or down.

2 Dead Pixels Near The Centre Of The Screen?

Mar 25, 2012

Like so many of you, I received my new iPad on launch day after ordering it from the Apple Online Store and upon turning it on I noticed 2 dead pixels near the centre of the screen. No problem I thought, booked a Genius appointment at my local (ish) Apple Store as soon as i could get to it to request an exchange. So on the day of the appointment I was told after 10 minutes of the guy looking at it and making phone calls that it couldn't be exchanged as it was online stock and had to be exchanged via the online store.

Screen - 3-5 Small Dead Pixels ?

Apr 7, 2011

So, I've read that apple will either replace, or fix your IPad, if there are more than 3 dead pixels. Is this true? Has anybody gotten their ipad replaced, due to 3-5 small dead pixels? If so, if I purchase Apple Care, would that policy concerning the replacement, still be covered on the IPad, 2 years down the road? Do I need to bring a proof of purchase, or can they just check it up online, which is what I did when checking remaining warranty?

It Has Dirt/Dead Pixels On The Screen?

This is so ultimately disappointing and very frustrating. I'd swap it but Apple has no stock.

Dead Pixel In The Middle Of My Screen ?

Mar 31, 2011

Just wanted to let anyone that's interested I just got back from taking my iPad 2 into Apple today as there is a dead pixel in the middle of my screen. The genius came out and looked at it, and said he needed to take it to the back for further inspection. He came out about 10 minutes later and told me that they will replace it, but would have to order it since the don't actually have any in stock. So now I just have to wait for them to call me with my new iPad ready, but there better not be any bad backlight bleeding or any more dead pixels, because I'm not having that.
