IPad 3 :: Cursor Jumps Elsewhere Randomly When Answering Emails?
Jun 23, 2012
When I open an email and then reply to it I start typing and suddenly the cursor has jumped elsewhere in the email (often into the email I am responding to) and I look up and see that I am typing elsewhere. Have to delete the letters/words and reposition the cursor where it should be. Sometimes it skips again immediately after typing one letter other times after a few letters. It's driving me mad. I have done a complete reset as instructed by Apple but that did not solve it. I cannot work this way. It is not fit for purpose at the moment.
Have an iPad 1 which is brilliant. Since updating to OS5 I have on several occasions lost the cursor when writing e mails. This is no problem until you need to correct, a frequent need. Anyone else had this problem and is there a solution other than closing and coming back in again?
On some forums, if I reply to an existing message on a bulletin board and quote the existing text, if the text exceeds the box to reply, I don't see a way to move the cursor to the end of the text. There is no vertical scroll bar inside the reply box and finger gestures are not recognized. When I connect the wireless bluetooth keyboard, I don't have this problem as I can use the arrow keys, but I don't see them on the internal keyboard.

How do I set the cursor to automatically start blinking after the OP's message rather than dragging it down to the correct place when replying? (Thunderbird does this for me automatically but don't see an iPad setting).
And, second question, how do I select great chunks of the OP's message that are not relevant to the reply to delete?
I was answering an email and in the middle of typing a word the screen froze and my iPad would not respond. I've my iPad since early April and this is the first time this has happened. Any ideas what happened and what I should if this happens in the future?
IPad 3 :: Picture Syncing - Just Jumps To Finished ?
Mar 20, 2012
I have had an ipad 1 for a couple of years, no problems at all. Got a new ipad 3 last weekend and most things work fine, no problem at all. I have the 32 gig wifi version, and have synced music, video and apps no problem.
When syncing pictures though it only syncs a few pictures and just jumps to finished. e.g. says it is copying picture 1 of 2000 goes up quickly to about picture 25 of 2000 then just jumps to finished. there is plenty of space on the ipad for the pictures selected. Is it some kind of cache problem because i had these photos linked to an ipad 1?
IPad 4 :: Keypad Mysteriously Jumps Down And Up When Start Typing
Aug 23, 2014
Whenever I would start to use the keypad for typing, like i am doing now writing this post, the keyboard would jump down (disappear) and then spring back up. it really is an unsettling experience when trying to type something. but usually after it does it the first time, you can continue typing. is this a new bug in the system? (ipad 4th gen using about a year now).
IPad 2 - Put In Apple ID And It Goes To Verifying And Then Jumps Back To ID And Password Page
Apr 28, 2012
I am having a real problem accessing FaceTime and messaging on my iPad 2. I enter my apple ID and password, which I know is correct, and it flicks over to verifying and then flicks back to the Apple ID and password page. It keeps on going and going like that. I have been into settings and the something happens. I got my iPad at Christmas but have had to replace the iPad as there was a problem with the home key. I have had the problem with both iPads.
My keyboard jumps up and down without warning. I tried keeping my right palm off the right, lower area as someone suggested here. It helps, but the keyboard still jumps. There also places where you can't write in/on. What up with that
Whenever pressing the back page button while using Google search, Safari jumps back 2 pages instead of one. Doesn't matter how quickly or slowly I hit the back button, even a quick tap.Seems to have started after upgrade to 4.2.

Unable To Copy Texts-program Jumps To The End Of The File?
Sep 6, 2010
GoodReader is proving a very useful app. But there is one thing in particular that I regard as a major flaw. I often use the search tool and then want to copy a text selection for pasting elsewhere. But as soon as I tap the central icon to get me into the mode that allows that, the program jumps to the end of the file! This means I have to find the text I want by scrolling, which for a long document frustrates me greatly.I get the impression that the app has been around for quite a long time? If so I'm surprised that this hasn't been fixed.Terry, East Grinstead, UK

Unable To Disable Jump Feature - Browser Jumps To Top
Jul 10, 2010
I dislike this "feature" very much. Is there a way to disable this? When you tap the status bar in almost any program, especially noticeable in web browsers, it jumps to the top of the page. Needless to say, this complicates multitasking a LOT as I constantly lose my place on a website when trying to launch backgrounder, which I have set to activate when I pull down from the status bar.
It appears after watching a video podcast on my iPad that it jumps back into the Movie player instead of the podcast selection screen. I have to hit the home button to go back into the iPod app to select a new podcast! This doesn't happen when listening to an audio Podcast, it allows you to go back to your list right away and select a new one. Is anyone else having this issue? This needs to be fixed in the next OS version!
I am doing instructional videos of Ipad apps - and am using Screen Recorder App. I need to know how to get a cursor on the screen wherever I tap, to make it easier for people to see .
