Today I freaked out over a line of dead pixels (with a dark black pixel at the center and then it fades away to the top and bottom of the screen) on my iPad 2 screen. I tried some YouTube videos with colored backgrounds but I read it is not effective for dead pixels (black). Also, I noticed that the line is aligned with one of folding lines of the smart cover so I thought it was the reason.
View 7 RepliesDon't know what I did but my screen is now too dark at the top half and too bright at the bottom half.

I just bought a new ipad last week and for some reason the screen has completely gone dark within the past couple of days. I can barely make out anything on the screen. I have tried restarting it but with no luck. I have also managed to get to the settings page a few times to try to change the brightness and even reset all of the settings, but nothing has changed - it is still very dark and practically impossible to see anything.
Has anyone else had this problem?

IPad is less than a month old. I was reading screen and it went black with no warning. It was fully charged and also would not respond to attaching to computer. The on / off button does not respond either. Any thoughts beyond "its broken"?
View 4 RepliesHowever, I noticed while the screen looks great and is very uniform, I can see a very small area on a completely white (or otherwise very bright) background that's just a bit darker. It's smaller than a dime, and it almost looks like a finger smudge, except it won't clean off.Part of me wants a perfect screen, and part of me thinks this is too small of an issue to worry about. Colors and such display on this part - it's just a shade or two darker.
View 2 RepliesI am having some dark areas along the bottom of my screen. They look like dark spotlights. Anybody else get these? This would be my second unit to take back, the last one had a bad docking plug.
View 1 RepliesCan you see the dark areas on the right side of the screen? What do you think they are? Should I replace it?

After installing ios 4.2 an application i play called "Run fast" the upgrade damaged its colors, the screen is now all dark blue and messed up, and it was fine on ios 3.2.2.
View 6 RepliesI've noticed something weird in here. When i put my sunglases on, iPad screen becomes extremely dark sometimes, not always. Yet, it becomes worse when i look it from different angles. Adjusting brightness doesn't change anything.
It might be because of IPS technology. Because, my iPhone looks pretty normal while my glasses on. Or, because of the reflections around?
Does anyone else has noticed it before?
When I first started using my iPad, everything was fine.
All of a sudden I see the display goes off the screen, for example, I would at time not be able to see the first few characters on each line. Or with some icons at the bottom of the screen won't be able to read the icon labels, basically the text or display has gone off the screen.
How do you get the screen to go dark after x # of minutes of inactivity? I could have sworn it would go black within a minute or so but my screen is staying on and not shutting down. I reset all settings but that didnt help. I also double tapped the home button then long pressed on the first icon and then closed down all the open programs by clicking the red minus sign
View 5 RepliesJUST opened my 64 3G iPad I bought from Best Buy, and there's some pretty bad backlight bleeding on the right side and left side edges. To me this is unacceptable. Please tell me if anybody here has had luck in exchanging it for another iPad? Will I have to take it to Best Buy, or can I go into an Apple Store? If they do offer a replacement will it be new or a refurb?
View 1 RepliesOne day when I woke up and wanted to use my iPad, it turned on and everything, but the screen shows only the backlight! No apple logo, nothing but backlight.
If I try to unlock it, I can hear the sound that it works. Ive tried to reset it multiple times, restored it via iTunes and everything.. Still nothing but backlight. And the rest of the iPad works just fine, exept I cant see anything.
