Just picked up a baseline 16GB WiFi only Ipad 2 days ago, and beginning to upload all my work documents onto it. I use mostly Word and PDF files. I've already downloaded and installed Pages, iBooks, and a free app called iPDF.
The problem I have is that I can get Word docs to open up fine, but it seems like the iPad hiccups a lot on bigger PDF files.
i.e., I have a large PDF file that is about 100 pages long, most of which is in xls spreadsheet format, and blueprints of floorplans (schematics). The pages with the spreadsheet loads just fine. Once it gets to the drawings, it chokes. If I try to zoom in, it chokes. If I rotate the iPad, it chokes again. Is there a work-around to this problem? I want to be able to present the file to my coworkers/boss and examine something without embarrasing myself.
2nd question I have is: is the Spotlight the only method of organizing the work documents? Is there no way of, say, creating a folder on the desktop, like my MBP?
Other than that, I'm really happy with my purchase. I don't have to lug around my MBP anymore, instead just whip out the ipad during the commute!
I have previously been able to open documents in pages, iAnnotate and good reader. For the last week I have not been able to. Drop box also affected. When trying to open a document, the screen pauses and cycles, but nothing happens.
Anyone know of a viewer for the iPad that recognized Open Office documents? I have GoodReader which is great. Especially since it connects to Clouds. However, it doesn't know what to do with these docs.
Information: iPhone 3GS, iPad 64, Mac 20 Mac OS X (10.5) HP Duo Core, Vista, Win 7, Ubuntu
I have an iPad 64gig 3G. On my iDisk i uploaded my pages docs and my older word docs so that i can open them in the pages app on my iPad. With the pages docs i only get the option "open with goodreader" in the iDisk app. With the Word docs i get the option "open with pages or with goodreader". How is this possible?
My iPad doesn't open my doc documents. The mail attachment as been sent as a doc. But in my email iPad, reads as something else. Thus doesn't open it . What happenede because at the beginning ut used to open doc. No more.
Hi all. Was using a demo unit today at apple store, and could preview all 3 iWork document types within mail, but they wouldn't open in their respective apps from mail. We reset the iPad but no dice. Anyone have this problem on their consumer models, or any trouble opening outside docs? Didn't find anything on searching the forums.
I was downloading pdf docs from my gmail inbox and saving them in GoodReader apps, then the application suddenly close by itself. GoodReader popped up message asking me whether I would like to report the error, I chose "No". Then upon returning to my email inbox, I could no longer download or even view pdf docs. What should i do? I tried in several different emails pdf attachments, all is not working, I could not even view any pdf documents attachments from my inbox.
I have three questions about the use of the iPad. 1. I would like to use it for editing work I do.Need to have Safari open, copy content from a website, then paste in spreadsheet (Numbers). Is this possible? Can I have two windows open (Safari & Numbers) at the same time? 2. I have a large library in iPhoto on my MacBook.I need to do some photo editing.Sift through a couple of years of photos, delete some, crop some... Is this something I could do both on the iPad and on iPhoto on my MacBook?Perhaps take in some of my library at a time,do the work on the iPad,then export back to my MacBook to store them? 3. I have a Netflix account (5/at a time). Can I stream to the iPad for no extra charge from my "watch now" Netflix stuff.
Have brand new iPad and want to download a pdf document using Safari as browser and read on the iPad. I have Adobe Reader app and Files app. iCloud is enabled. Reading List only shows download page. I can download this document quickly on my Laptop. How can I access and read the document on my iPad without sending it to myself?
New to iPad and just clicked on a link to download an exe file but when safari displayed then open in message I just closed the screen. I would like to know if the file is actually on the iPad or not and if so how I locate it and delete it. The exe was a pc filer so wouldn't work on the iPad anyway.
I have Ipad 1 version 4.3.3 jailbroken. Since yesterday morning whenever I tried to open Safari, the window pop up and it close on its own after few seconds. When I tried to open the safari on safe mode it works perfectly.
I have an iPad 2 , and I just updated to IOS 5. Now when I try to open a link on safari, I just get a white screen, the page does not open. The same thing with links for you tube videos.I never had this problem when I was runinig 4.3.5.
I Receive my emails through gmail on my Ipad2. The last two days I cannot open my gmail, I either get a message that there were too many redirects and safari cannot open it, or I see a box with my email address to confirm , and when I do it just keeps coming back.
