View 5 RepliesI have upgraded to ios 5.1.1, and pages printed from my iPad, only print (AirprintActivator) in Portrait, when I am in Landscape . My iPhone prints fine in Landscape, and is only 5.0, not upgraded yet.

i really like the iBooks app for reading eBooks and have considered creating my own ePub documents as books that i might sell through my website or attempt to submit for publication.as a photographer, i would love to create ebook versions of some of my photography books, but my photographs are often landscape oriented. and when you turn the iPad to its landscape orientation, the app shows two side-by-side portrait oriented pages. is there any way to force the iBooks app to show just a single portrait oriented page? when you view books in the iBook app on the iPhone in landscape mode, it shows a single landscape oriented page. it would be nice to have this option on the iPad as well.

I know a few of you were interested in this. Here's how to do it (according to lioncourt.com, who are self proclaimed experts in Apple accessibility).
1. Turn VoiceOver on. Unless you're using it all the time, I suggest going to the settings pane and choose Accessibility, VoiceOver then check 'triple click of home to turn VoiceOver on or off' or whatever the option is. Can't check right now as I am using my iPhone to post this and if I come out of Safari this text will disappear.
2. Open iBooks and the book you want. Triple click the home button to tum VoiceOver on. It will say 'VoiceOver on'.
3. Place two fingers on the screen. Make sure they're fingers held next to each other. Flick those fingers downwards in a smooth quick motion. You may have to practice to get it right.
4. VoiceOver will begin to read the page from the top, and when it gets to the bottom, it will turn the page for you and carry on speaking the next page. And so on. To stop it just tap on the screen anywhere with one finger (VoiceOver will most likely read whatever is under your finger, then stop. )
5. Unless you want to carry on using VoiceOver gsetures for everything else you do with your ipad, remember to triple click to turn it off again when done.
Caveats to this are that I do not have an ipad to test this because I'm a forgotten UK apple fan, I'm just relaying what lioncourt.com has said. Usually they get it right with regards to VoiceOver but not always.
Here's someone else's youtube demo for those who can see (no narration to describe how to do it, just a video of someone doing it) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5kLiRxuuq0
In the iBooks app, it would be great if we had an option to disable page turns by tapping in the margins, meaning only allowing page turns by the right- or left-ward swipe gesture. Page turns by swipe are a lot more intuitive to me, equally easy, and tapping margins often interferes with text selection for highlightingwith that for the ol' iBook hardware)? If so, I haven't managed to locate it.
View 2 RepliesIs there any way to moderate the sensitivity to affect turning the pages in the iBook. I swear my finger has not touched the screen and as many as 15 pages turn before I get the deal stopped?
View 4 RepliesDoes anyone know if the iBooks page numbers correspond with the page numbers to the actual page numbers in a hard copy?
Information:
I find iBooks very useful for storing not only my books but also my PDF files containing recipes, knitting patterns, etc. Only problem is that when I have finished reading a page, the toolbar at the top has disappeared and, even if I tap that area, my Collections option does not always appear.
View 2 RepliesI would like to suggest a few minor changes to make this site more IPad friendly. First when a thread has multiple pages, I always have to zoom in to switch to the next page, the page numberings could be bigger for finger tapping or replace the last page button with a next page. The second issue I constantly have is tapping on a thread, I find myself often tapping on the OP name just below, a little more spacing would help or move the OP name beside the thread name. Just my 2 cents. Great site BTW.
View 2 RepliesWe use Windows Fax Server at the office for incoming faxes. The ipad seems like it would be ideal to view these faxes but they are distributed as multi-page .tiff email attachements. I cannot figure out how to view the multi-page documents. I can only view the first page. Any suggestions?

View 5 RepliesA lot of people have complained about the screen orientation lock being moved from an external switch to a button on the screen. After using it a bit I have concluded that I like it. I use my iPad a lot in my living room and bedroom, in both of which I have the lights turned down. I found that because of the case that I have the iPad in I was always physically looking for the switch to see which way I had to go with it to lock or unlock the screen. With the lock on the screen I can easily see it and do what I want with it. And to get to it is only a couple of taps and a swipe.

When I have multiple pages open in safari and want to change back to a different page then it always refreshes that page. Can it be set to simply go back to that window and keep the page as it was? Pretty sure it doesn't work like that on the iPhone Information :MacBook Pro (2010, iMac (Intel 17") + Macbook - 2GB ram + G4 (1GB), iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.6.4)Switcher after 20+ years - still here 4+ years on.
View 3 RepliesRecently I have experienced my iPad freezing or locking up when loading a web page. Doesn't happen all the time, but say I am brewing a multiple page site, it can happen. My only recourse is to completely power off and power back on.I clear the browser cache etc...frequently
