View 5 RepliesI got my iPad on launch day and to my surprise - I didn't have any dead pixels, wifi issues, backlight bleeding, yellow tint, etc. It was a perfect iPad! So of course, I've been enjoying it for the past few weeks. I even put a screen protector and skin three days ago.
Yesterday, while watching a YouTube video - I noticed a small white dot only visible on black backgrounds. I pulled the dead pixel test, and noticed this white dot that is only visible in dark / black backgrounds. It is not black, but white.. so I tried massaging it and playing this youtube video that is supposed to remove stuck pixels by flashing all sorts of colors - but it is still there.
Now some will say that it was probably there all along, but I really checked every week or so to make sure there was nothing wrong with it! It definitely just popped up yesterday. And unlike many - I really do NOT like returning iPads! It's odd that this pixel randomly popped up! Is there a fix for this? I really don't want to return it as it is pretty much perfect (except for this REALLY TINY issue). I didn't get AppleCare and my 14 days have obviously passed, so I can't return it, right?
There appears to be a texture to the glass of my iPad that was not present on my iPad 2 or with my iPhone 4. It is visible when scrolling on white backgrounds and it almost looks like the screen is dirty. The effect is similar to that of using an antiglare screen protector but much more subtle and not as uniform. I'm thinking the underside of the glass is slightly dirty. Are others seeing this.
View 3 RepliesI have a dead pixel, its more of a bright spot on my screen, Larger then a pixel, its a small area, where its brighter then the rest of the image, on white backgrounds its really noticeable, like when reading a book.

Today I noticed that when I start up my iPad from a off state, sometimes there are little white pixels flashing... Has anyone else noticed this? What could it be?

I just bought a 64gb white and have one dead pixel at the bottom right corner and a stuck pixel near top right should I return ? There not very big but now that I know where they are I can't help but notice them every time I use it. I just bought the iPad the other day from Target and don't have any apple stores near by.
View 2 RepliesI was curious if anyone (maybe via the iOS 5 beta) has any 1024x1024 images of the "linen" background that Apple has been rolling out in iOS and OS X. I am also looking for 1024x1024 images of the standard water droplet background.

Generally the screen is fairly bright, even on the lowest settings. However, I just went to iBooks and noticed that when the iPad brightness is at its min., within iBooks the same brightness level is ~20% and at 0% it is really dim. But when leaving iBooks, the brightness jumps back to its previous level. Is there are reason for this discrepancy in brightness? Surely Apple isn't trying to make people use iBooks by limiting the brightness of all other apps at a level, which is too high for reading in the darkness.
View 3 RepliesHave you ever noticed uneven brightness of the screen of your iPad2. While reading pdf in the dark room I have noticed that one corner (left bottom) is less bright (and maybe a bit yellowish) than for example right top corner.
View 1 RepliesMy iPad 2 screen is too bright, even in its dimmest brightness level. I can make it dimmer inside iBooks app, but not in the system settings.
View 12 RepliesAlong the right side there are alternating bright & dark spots or splotches. Dark areas kinda look like finger imprints. Just curious ! This does show up on darker screens, just white backgrounds.

I've just noticed a couple of problems on my v1 iPad, one being a few very noticeable particles of dust under the screen, but also more worryingly a couple of bright patches.
The iPad is still under warranty but I wondered if there was anything that could be done about this if I took it into an Apple store? Would they be able to replace the screen or send it off for repair?
I have two different pictures set for my lock screen and my home screen backgrounds. my home screen keeps changing back to the lock screen picture.
View 1 RepliesWhen viewing a black screen - that is, a screen of black content, the side that would be on the right when holding the iPad in portrait mode has a couple of brighter areas, like the old school backlit displays.
View 5 RepliesWhat would you recommend to reduce the glare on the screen in bright areas, getting tired at looking at my double chin when watching a film or reading an iBook. Are there any good glare protectors
View 5 RepliesI seem to have a couple bright spots near the bottom near the button. It's just slightly brighter than the area around it. I'm prob just being picky...but when you pay 500+ for a device....
I'll try for a photo in a bit...
I've acquired a 2G iPod Touch and a WiFi only iPad. I heard all the stories about notorious scratches on touch-screen devices so one of the first thing I did when I got them was to head to my local Futureshop (a well known computer distributer), and have them wrapped in protective cases and protective screens.(I forget what brand I picked, it was either Zagg or Belkin)I figured that it would be a good idea to keep the colours bright on my iPad (because I was hoping to use it for photos and video) so I picked the bright+clear plastic. For the Touch I picked the anti-glare. I know now that the anti-glare is by far the better choice. I can still see all of the colours perfectly well on my touch, and I've found I can even read off of it outside on a sunny day. The iPad's screen is so shiny I often find myself looking at my own reflection, caused only by the ambient light in my room. So yea, I'd like to swap my current iPad screen protector for one of the non-glare variety.
View 4 RepliesWell just had my iPAD a few hours no realy bad screen bleed just a few small spots up up bright. Now the intresting part if you hold the device in landscape mode and gently twist the device not to cause any damage the spots of bleed will DISAPEAR or show up in another place!
This is my video of me flexing the device:[URL]
Now I think this is referd presure on the LCD panel from using to much glue and the device being less ridged as it flexes!
Apples mistake here if you look at IFIXIT they mounted the bezel of the LCD Panel with glue to the Digitiser so any referrd presure when stuck to the back plate pushes on the display!
BASICALLY like takeing your finger on a naked lcd screen and pressing the panel around its edge you will see the backlight and make it go funny!
I think all the LCD panels apple have are fine, just that its thin construction and the way its been mounted is putting pressure on the display itself.
If i was apple id replace the glue around the LCD panel with a thiner material or leave it in freespace stuck into the device from the back!
Anyway anyone brave enough to twist your ipad a little (it does flex a little) will see the bleed disapear, or show up in diferent places.
I am one of the people with wifi dropping after sleep. I have the 16g wifi only iPad and verizon fios router.I tried the fixes mentioned here, changing my router settings, to no avail. Then I saw someone mentioned something about brightness. Sure enough, when I had wifi dropped and the wifi icon gone, I went into settings and increased the brightness. The icon popped up instantly and I got wifi back. I thought well that's a quicker fix than reconnecting manually at least. Then I thought what if I turned up brightness a little permanently. I had it at minimum because that's plenty bright for me already. But incredibly, just leaving brightness up a tiny bit from minimum fixed my wifi problem. Haven't had a drop since! This may work for you may not. I think we may have different problems with iPad wifi. Some may be an incompatibility with some routers, some may be a flaw in hardware or software of the iPad itself.Message was edited by: dearlt Information:
