Getting A Https Connection Through A Proxy Server

Jun 7, 2010

I have a proxy server that I need to get through at work, my Mac has no trouble as in the network control panel I can specify a port for each specific type of traffic eg http, https etc. However I cant specify that level of detail in the network connections in my iPad as it only asks for the proxy server address and port once. is there any way to specify the proxy server for the https connection in the ipad OS?

Accessing YouTube App - Gmail Hotmail Account Using Proxy Server

Jul 21, 2010

I have an iPad with Wi-Fi settings properly configured at my house, every App is working. Nevertheless, when I take it to my office, certain applications like YouTube and the Mail stops working. In the office we use a proxy server. I configure it and every application starts working except those two.I installed a sniffer in the wireless network and saw something strange, all connections of the working applications are sent to the proxy server, but YouTube and Mail stills send the requests to networks of the Internet (which by the way the local network drops them because they are not known because they are not private networks RFC 1918) bypassing the proxy server. Is there a missing configuration that I do not know? Or is the normal behavior of these applications to think they are over a wireless network connected directly to the Internet?

Content Filtering Operates As Proxy Server And Safari Doesn't Work With It

Jun 18, 2012

My company currently uses a product called Websense that provides web security and content filtering. The content filtering operates as a proxy server and Safari doesn't work with it. We would like to migrate toward the use of iPad's, but we need to find a solutions for web/content filtering. We want the ability to globally establish policies and control the web filtering at the enterprise level. They would like to avoid replacing the browser.

Connection To Server - Cannot Connect

May 2, 2010

Both my iPad and my ipod touch have suddenly stopped being able to access the internet. Both were working fine a few hours ago. My PC is connected to the internet fine via my wireless connection.I can connect to my wifi router from both the ipad and ipod and the signal is strong. For a moment when I found my new toy the iPad wansn't connecting I thought 'oh no it might have a fault' so then went to check my ipod and got the same thing -so at least that should rule out a singular fault with the ipad.

3G SIM Connection To Server Failures?

May 23, 2010

iPad 3g 64g, bought the 250meg ATT data package.I used 9 megs over the course of a week, and then it stopped getting data.ATT logo and full bars in the corner, but no 3G or E after it. Settings|Cellular Data|View Account comes back with Connection Failed. The connection to the server was lost. Please try again later.
This is the same message you get with wifi and cell data turned off.

Searching found numerous questions as to whether 3G was down various places, and numerous suggestions such as Settings|Reset|Network, wipe and restore, remove and reinsert the SIM card, reboot. Tried them all. Then I found several threads where people had activated on the road, gone home, and found the same symptom, no data. One thread here on Apple Support reported all cases fixed by going to the ATT store and getting a new SIM card.

Did that. It worked. It also cost me $15. Wasn't too happy about that. Guy behind the counter had had the same thing happen to his iPad. So, some iPads are eating their SIMs, or some SIMs are just failing.
Somebody's warranty should be covering this, and it needs to get fixed. The "activated on the road" thing is likely a red herring, even though it's exactly what I did. Many people probably activate on the road,
since that's when they're away from their wifi.

Anybody else seen this issue and want to contribute some data?

Cannot Get Mail - The Connection To The Server Failed

Apr 4, 2010

This has been a pretty regular problem for me w/ my iPhone when I'm own my home WiFi: desktop and laptop connect to IMAP mail server(s) fine, but when iPhone tries to it gets theCannot Get MailThe connection to the server <mail server hostname> failed. Now I'm getting this without exception on my iPad. On the iPhone, I can get around it by switching to 3G, but not on this WiFi-only iPad.I've tried increasing the max connections per IP on the IMAP server in question, but that's had no effect. I've searched high and low on Google and other forums and there's TONS of threads on this/similar issues -- but no solutions.

Email - Connection To The Outgoing Server Failed

Jun 23, 2010

I have 4 email accounts on the iPad - one exchange account, 2 gmails, one university account (outlook based). All work fine from home.Today at work I had a great wifi connection, but the exchange account was pretty much frozen. The most recent message all day was from right before I left home. I tried fiddling with the settings- I added stmp.gmail.com for outgoing mail, but that didn't help. i tried setting it up as a new account, but " Verify" repeatedly failed. i ended up somehow deleting all the messages. So, I deleted the account. then I set it back up from home and it worked fine
